Iowa farmer has Democratic name |
|
http://www.theiowachannel.com/politics/3567031/detail.html
STORM LAKE, Iowa -- Days before the Democratic National Convention, a Storm Lake, Iowa, farmer is suddenly famous.
Kerry Dean Edwards, 27, finds his name is bringing a lot of attention now that Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry named John Edwards his running mate in the upcoming election.
"I guess I've seen (the names) around town on signs, but I never even thought about it," Edwards said.
But the irony of the name is that Edwards plans to vote for President George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

1. I'll never understand why the farmers support the GOP |
|
the previous farm bill was GOP driven and a disastor. The latest is obviously GOP and benefits the corporate farmer, and will aid more family farms in their decision to "move to town"

3. in this guy's case, it's because he's clueless |
|
the guy's in freaking Iowa, which was practically taken over by the candidates in January, and he says:
"I guess I've seen (the names) around town on signs, but I never even thought about it," Edwards said.

5. yeah, i noticed that also |
|
most of the intelligent people who vote republicans do so because they are selfish and they only care about their own financial gain as these people are mostly rich.
the rest of them tend to be ignorant and usually vote based on thinking bush is a moral person or some other crap usually fed to them by some right wing religious people . i assume this kerry dean edwards guy is one of these.

6. You should DEFINATELY read "What's The Matter With Kansas" then |
|
it's a recently released book, and it talks all about how the working-class American heartland has been hoodwinked into voting against itself by the Repubs. It's quite interesting, and frightening, as it focuses on once-progressive Kansas and the right turn its politics has taken in the last 20 years.
Definately worth picking up.

Maybe it will help expalin why my aunt and uncle pissed away a perfectly good life on a farm they worked their entire lives. They actually were active Iowa Republicans and each year the Republicans took them to the woodshed and further made their small farmer lifestyle an impossibility and why none of 4 boys or 3 girls were able to take over the farm that they were raised on and why they all now are miserable working "in town".
thanks
