Interesting campaign fund raising idea from cartoonist Fitzsimmons
From the Arizona Daily Star

And if you visit the Star Opinion page, there is some good stuff demonstrating why bushco cannot run on it's record. Ask anybody who says the economy is doing well if they are a large business owner, cuz they are the only ones benefiting from this economy. Workers are not keeping up with inflation although corporate profits are up. And those profits are not being invested in job growth as the pResident said they would be.

<snip> As great expectations continue to wither, it's worth remembering that last January Bush's Council of Economic advisers predicted the economy would generate 2.6 million jobs in 2004. During his first three years, the president's economic policies actually cost the nation about 2 million jobs. It is astonishing that he presumes to take credit for an improving economy when he took a thriving economy with a budget surplus and created an enormous deficit.

<snip> But it is the unemployment rate that reflects the worst of Bush's policy. While Bush likes to point out that the economy added 1.5 million jobs in the last 10 months, economists note that it is barely enough to accommodate a growing population of workers. That pace is half the number of jobs created on a monthly average during the Clinton years.

<snip> The job gains were in health care, social assistance, professional and technical services, transportation and warehousing, according to the Labor Department. Manufacturing, which often pays better than average, lost 11,000 jobs in June.

<snip> While corporate profits have increased sharply, companies have not invested in job growth. Nor has income risen commensurate with profits.* During the past year, the wages of rank-and-file workers rose 1.7 percent, not enough to keep up with inflation.

*bold: mine

bushco cannot run on its record. Say it often.
