Will we ever stop hearing "Who is John Kerry? Nobody knows!"
I do not understand how many people continue to say, "I haven't heard John Kerry say what he'd do about jobs or anything." or "Kerry is criticizing but he doesn't have any plans of his own." or "Nobody knows who Kerry is." You hear it in focus groups, in call-in shows like C-Span, from the talking heads, etc...

The man is traveling all over the place talking about his proposals, he's got issues and plans on his website and they're linked all over the net, he's got surrogates out there on the road and on tv, and with the access we have to information these days, it makes me crazy when I keep hearing "I just haven't heard him say..." I want to yell, "Well, listen up!!"

Maybe it's partly the media building up to the convention (you know, "THIS is when the voters will get to see John Kerry!") for ratings. Maybe people just don't pay attention until the hype gets loud enough. But I hope after this week, the "He never says anything" or "I never hear anything" or "Who is John Kerry?" stuff stops.

Do I expect too much?

1. You're not expecting too much...
We're all just getting WAY TOO LITTLE from all those media whores as they spout their stereotypical "talking points"--which haven't changed in six months, btw. Part of what makes them media whores is they are inherrently LAZY! (Along with being inherrently biased, of course!:eyes: )

B-)

2. I find it rather ironic
The media keep saying "the public doesn't feel it knows John Kerry." Well, gee whiz. Isn't it sort of the JOB of the media to make sure we DO know a presidential candidate???

If people don't know John Kerry, the media are failing in their task. No surprise there.

To be quite fair, however, there are lots of people who don't ever pick up a newspaper or magazine or listen to a radio or TV news broadcast. I suppose the expectation is that Kerry will just knock on their door and introduce himself?????

3. My thoughts exactly - why don't we hear the same about Bush?
Soooo much of Bush's background has been hidden away.

4. this is the repukes flexing their media muscle, but it will backfire
the repukes just don't know what to do with their propaganda power.
they use it, just not always wisely on their behalf.

they lead in press coverage by a 4-1 margin, so of course kerry's the relative unknown. and advertising that kerry's unknown definitely makes people more nervous about supporting kerry.

and that would be great political strategy if the election held today. but it's not, the election isn't until november.

so all this talk about not knowing kerry will backfire as it simply creates a demand to get to know kerry. more people will watch the democratic convention than otherwise would, so they can get to know kerry. and the media will be forced to run more stories about kerry.

these people don't plan so well.

5. Pretty ironic, isn't it?
Bush is slamming Kerry with outright lies, and until recently, when Bush said he wants to be the "peace president", I hadn't a clue about what his agenda for his "second term" would be. Still don't know much ... except of course he wants to be that peace prez, but so far no specifics as to what he has in mind to accomplish that. Bring peace to Iran by invading/occupying, maybe? Or Syria? Or North Korea? Cuba, perhaps? Institute the draft to make sure all this "peace" gets spread around? One can only imagine!

Bush Must Go!!

6. There is so much info on Kerry out there
You seriously have to blind and deafen yourself to avoid understanding who Kerry is and what kind of man he is.

He's written two books, one about his candidacy the other about future threats to the world, Brinkley wrote a bio about him from his childhood days, to the vietnam war and the protests he led against it.

A quick scan of his website lets you know his statements on all the major issues, you can search around for how he voted ect.

SO WHAT THE HELL IS MISSING THAT NO ONE CAN SEE WHAT KIND OF PERSON HE IS??

7. No. Because those who say that are Willfully Ignorant and/or have an
agenda.

It is as simple as that.

8. Enough people seemed to
know him well enough to vote for him overwhelmingly in the primaries. Those people are out there and there are a lot of them.

"Who is John Kerry? Nobody know!" is just another GOP meme.
