COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - John Kerry said Sunday that a team of lawyers is looking at "each and every district" where there have been voting problems to try to prevent a repeat of the 2000 election disputes.
Kerry said he put the legal team in place as soon as he secured the Democratic presidential nomination in March. He said he also has thousands of lawyers around the country prepared to monitor the polls on election day.
"We're looking at each and every district where there have been problems," he told a voter who asked Kerry how he would make sure every vote is counted this November. "We may or may not be bringing challenges publicly in the course of the next weeks."
As an example, Kerry said his team found that in Florida, people are being purged from the voter files if they don't respond to a letter to stay on it.
