CNN sez: IN 51-49 Clinton; NC 56-42 Obama
Front page: http://www.cnn.com. 99% of precincts reporting in both states.

But you know what's *real* news...

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/state/#IN

Dude, McCain only got 77% of the vote in Indiana! Despite being the only viable candidate on the ticket!

I am going to be LOVING this general election.

I dare not hope that it is over as I have been burned too many times already. However, I will say this:

I do not think a unity ticket would work. It would combine Obama's negatives with Clinton's negatives and alienate too many people. I think the way back to party unity is for whoever drops out to take that massive campaign organization and go back on the trail and make @#$! mincemeat out of McCain. Cause that's something we'd ALL enjoy.

C ya,

3. Disagree about the unity ticket - we need it to win.
However difficult that is for the most zealous supporters of either Dem candidate to accept.

We can win with a unity ticket. I'd hate to see this election thrown away.

4. It's not about zealotry for me. I really think it would be a dumb idea.
There's a fairly large number of voters who would rather eat dirt than vote for Hillary Clinton. There's also a fairly large number of voters who would rather eat dirt than vote for Barack Obama. There's some overlap between the two populations but they don't coincide. You put both of them on one ticket, you unnecessarily increase the number of people who will not vote for that ticket no matter what the people on it say, do, or propose.

The theory behind the unity ticket is that you add the supporters and I guess the idea is that this counteracts the effect of adding the detractors. I think that makes sense if you're thinking about getting support from Democrats but makes a lot less sense once you look at support from outside the party.

However, I am not a political consultant, and as I have always said, I am often wrong.

5. The pledged delegate race is pretty much officially over.
She needs over 86% in the final primaries, lol.

6. A unity ticket would be a disaster.
More people will show up to vote against Hillary than will show up to vote for her.
