Did anyone else notice what was missing from Clinton's speech? |
|
President Clinton gave a great speech that could encourage any crowd to get behind Kerry. However, it is interesting that he left out any mention of USA-PATRIOT and the Bill of Rights. There was no mention of civil liberties and the only mention of civil rights was in connection with the election of 1960. He did say human rights at one point. Given that he spoke about Bush's reponse to 9/11, it is odd that he didn't mention the loss of our rights. I understand Kerry's people have influenced the speeches. This was a big ommission and I wonder if someone behind the scenes thinks most people oppose the Bill of Rights.

Remember, he limited himself to 30 minutes.
I think he learned his lesson from 1988.

pointing out all the way the Bush appointistration has affected the daily lives of ordinary people and how it isn't working!
Most people haven't been detained for months without either a phone call or a lawyer. That stuff is all still theoretical to them. Other speakers did touch on it slightly. However, Clinton's genius was that he told everybody in TV land what was wrong, and how the Democrats have always been different in the way they addressed it.
That speech will get the fence sitters, some of the Nader nuts, and even a few of the propagandized robots out there thinking about things.

5. Enron, Halliburton, Arthur Andersen... |

...arsenic in the drinking water, states suing to force the EPA to do its job, black box voting, the crooked Texas redistricting, the crooked California recall....
Lot of things weren't covered... the important things were.

I also noticed that he didn't say that Cheney is a walking scumbag maggot infested pile of dog feces. You just can't get everything in to a 30 minute speech.

7. other speakers spent time on the USA-PATRIOT act. |
|
I bet he didn't want to beat a dead horse. And Gore spent a good bit on civil liberties and rights. No sense for Clinton to just repeat what Gore said.

12. Maybe he will let Kerry carry that ball? - nothing wrong with the speech - |
|
Kerry has to pick up the ball now and score the winning touchdown.
