I liked Harry Truman's response as to why he finally endorsed JFK |
|
In 1960, Harry Truman was opposed to JFK. He told one interviewer that JFK was "the immature democrat" and that he wasn't worried about the Pope having influence in the White House but "the pop."
But as soon as JFK was nominated by the convention--Truman immediately endorsed him. Reporters asked him how he could suddenly change his mind and endorse this "immature democrat" His response, "The Democratic convention took care of that." how? "why, they nominated him."

2. Excellent! And that's the way I feel only for different reasons.. |

And that was a very interesting, entertaining nomination process last night. And Kerry/Edwards are going to Win!

I always loved that - so true. And I've used that statement many times with people who insist that Bush is not to blame for anything - it was all "bad intelligence" or whatever. But the bottom line is, he's supposed to be the man in charge and that's where the buck stops.
