Alright, Betty Castor! E-mail urging FL voters to ask for absentee ballot!
Dear _________,

"Florida’s Bad Record on Voting Records."  That’s the headline of today’s New York Times editorial.  It says:

"State election officials have insisted that the machines have safeguards to ensure that votes are accurately recorded and counted, including a computerized audit function. Recently, however, Miami-Dade County officials admitted that almost all of the audit records from a disputed 2002 primary had been accidentally destroyed. Florida’s election system was a national disgrace in 2000, and it is well on its way to becoming one again."

The best way to help prevent electronic votes from being destroyed is to vote by mail. There are two ways you can help.

If you're registered to vote in Florida, call your local supervisor of elections and ask them to send you a ballot. That’s a paper ballot, thus a paper trail. Visit our homepage for more information.

Whether you live in Florida or not, you can help us get out the mail-in vote.

Voters can request these ballots today... the sooner the better, of course. We are working night and day to contact voters across the state and encourage them to use mail-in ballots.  Several counties are now reporting unusually large numbers of requests for paper ballots.

I need your help to support this critically important effort.  It costs our campaign about 50 cents to reach a voter and get them to mail in their ballot.  Our goal is to raise $35,463, enough to contact 70,000 voters before the primary on August 31st.

Can I count on you to help us today?  Use this link to contribute now:

Let's make our votes count this year!

2. Fox had something about Florida's absentee ballots and
at first I thought they were doing us a favor. Then this woman comes on and says that everyone should remember that someone HAS to count all those ballots (duh) and that every signature will be matched up to the one you have on your registration on file and if they don't match perfectly, the ballot is just thrown out. Sounds to me like she was trying to frighten people away from using the absentee ballots. But, I do agree with her that if people are going to use the absentee ballots that they make sure they have them filled out perfectly, mailed correctly and that their handwriting better be up to par that day.

So many ways to get screwed I don't know how I'm voting yet.

Skarbrowe ( Florida voter )
