Republicans jumping ship!
My independent but dem-leaning coworker told me of two conversations she's had in the past day. Both were with Republicans who said they would be voting Democratic for the first time in their lives! come November. They are just sick of Bush.

Just a ray of sunshine to help us with our work,

2. You hear these stories...
...about people jumping ship--those who voted for Bush last time but will vote for Kerry this time, or people who've never voted before planning on voting for the first time, but why are the poll numbers still around 50-50? I just don't get it! It should be 55%-45% at the very least!

6. Gallup and other pollsters have been complaining
that their samples have been adversely affected by new technology: answering machines, caller ID, call waiting, cell phones, dialup computer access with no extra line, and voice mail, all of which mean a polltaker is going to find the phone unanswered or unavailable.

Now ask yourself who is at home, with no technology, and always picks up the phone, and I think you'll discover why polls may be weighted toward Bush in a way that doesn't exist in the population as a whole.

Personally, I like to see these flawed polls favoring Bush. It makes us work harder and it makes them more confident, and this is just the way we should all want it. The Bush gang will be less motivated to fraud and less likely to cancel elections if they think they have a chance of being close enough to steal power again.

8. Polls are easy to skew by the way they are written and who they ask
And the folks who arranged for the coup in 2000 need to have the polls showing a neck and neck race so it will be believable when they hack the vote on those unsafe computers this year. We have to make a lot of noise at the local levels to ensure a safe election.

And we need to give Kerry a congress that will work with him.

Local races are VERY important. Keep your eyes on them. Find out about being a poll watcher, get in the face of any local official who says there is no reason to worry about computer voting systems which do not have a paper trail to verify each voter's choices and allow for audits. Get in their faces! No more patches like "Rob Georgia"!

3. Thanks, I love these stories
They give you hope that all of our fellow Americans are not idiots. I also enjoyed all those GOP callers last night on C-Span saying they were voting for Kerry this time! :kick:

4. The good news with these stories is that few Dems are jumping ship for *
They're coming to us and we are not going to them.

5. 2 of my republican neighbors told me the same thing this morning ...
... this kind of "jumping ship" is what always accounts for "landslide elections" when unpopular incumbents are involved ... NOBODY wants to be the last one standing in a sinking ship...

Kerry PROVED his mettle as "captain" once more last night!
