Call it both ways!
I've heard numerous so-called pundits trying to make a big thing out of the fact (in their eyes, at least) that the Democratic Convention was largely more centrist than most of the delegates in attendance.

Anyone want to bet that these same lazy jerks won't say a frickin' word about how the Republican Convention will be trying to be even more centrist than its delegates? I mean, look who's speaking at the RNC: Giuliani, Schwarzenegger, Bloomberg (who's not even really a Republican). The Democrats put on Clinton, Gore, Sharpton, Kucinich, Teddy, and a bunch of liberal speakers (granted, not all in prime-time). Think the Republicans will dare give Tom DeLay a major speaking slot? Think any of the so-called pundits will call attention to this major omission? (Considering he's possibly the second most powerful man in America.) Don't hold your breath.

Another triumph for the SCLM.

1. pure hypocrisy, plain and simple
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 02:05 PM by leeman67
anyone with an IQ above 50 knows by now that the mainstream media has a different standard for Democrats than Republicans. IF ONLY, the Republicans actually trotted out their true leaders - Delay, Hastert, Inhofe, Jeb Bush, etc., ordinary Americans would see just out of touch they are. Instead we'll get treated to the Guiliani/Schwartzenegger show and NO ONE - not Matthews, not Fineman, not Wolfie, and ESPECIALLY not Brit - will make mention that these are Pro-choice, pro-gay rights moderates who do not even represent the average GOP delegate. And yet all we heard the past 4 days is "95% of the delegate are against the war, but Kerry, Edwards, et al were for it!" The hypocrisy is so blatant, there really should be another word to define it.

2. I heard Kweisi Mfume say:
A woman's right to choose is between her and her GOD, not her and her government!"

No, it wasn't on prime time, but it was after 6pm, and I was certainly glad to hear it.

Similarly, when the Vermont delegates had their 2 minutes of glory, they talked about their PRIDE in having been the first state in the nation to allow civil unions for gays and lesbians.

They didn't cut out ALL the liberals.... :-)

Oh! Best of all, at the end of the convention, I saw ONE HOMEMADE SIGN. It said "Boot Bush" - it had a big picture of a boot, and the man holding it high for the cameras (at 11pm) was Al Sharpton.

3. I heard one pundit saying
something like "How long will Kerry be able to keep up this centrist illusion?" Centrist? I've been called a flaming liberal, a bleeding heart liberal, etc., etc, and I listened to his whole speech. I LOVED it? Now, if he's so centrist, why am I, a "flaming liberal" loving every word he said?
