How will the RNC convention compare to ours?
Here's their lineup. Their best people have futures in politics, I wonder why on earth they would go to any great lengths to swallow their differences with Bush, the worst president ever, the way Sharpton, Kucinich, etc. did with Kerry.

Plus, the protestors will detract from whatever message they try to convey.

Plus, the whole thing will culminate with a speech by the chimp, who even his most ardent supporters are sick of hearing.

1. That (D) by Zell is most offensive
Can't we revoke his membership or something?

8. He is why I haven't sent a Dime to the Georgia Party in 2yrs.
I contact them regularly to tell them so.

I only deal with the DNC the rare times they come here.

14. Could it be a Trojan horse?
What is with that?

Why the hell is a Democrat stumping for shrub!!!?

I am in agreement with revoking his membership, but how does he vote? I guess I might be able to stomach things a little better if he at least votes for progressive issues.

It would be ironic if Zell pulls a fast one and makes shrub think that he gave a good speech, but really indicted the administration.

With the level of sophistication in the RNC, that shouldn't be too hard to do.

2. Pathetic line-up. Real question is: How will media spin it?
Will the bash Bush and every speech at the RNC just like the DNC?

How about Tweety on MSNBC?

5. I'm interested in that too
I wonder if they will comment on the "specifics" of Bush's speech, or how "scripted" the whole convention is.

WTC moment. Maybe he'll even speak to the gathering through a megaphone.

18. I was thinking
the Wednesday lineup myself.

C'mon you've got Cheney and Miller for God's sake. Atleast the Tuesday lineup has a token minority!

With the exception of Cheney, every one of those people is more popular than *... Is somebody trying to prop up his numbers? Hmmmm...?

10. The repubs. might as well cancel it. They will be better off.
There was energy and dynamism in the DNC. It was a message of optimism and hope. Clinton, Obama and Kerry gave excellent speeches. Clinton was especially good. Clinton acknowledged his own weakness and was honest in stating that he avoided Vietnam.

In the RNC, junior will ignore his service record at best and lie about it at worst.

None of the repub. speakers will engender a message of hope. The message will be limited to one of limiting the damage that has been inflicted by the DNC's brilliantly run program.

There will an endless flow of lies that are now all too transparent.

And, McCain has become too adept at playing republican politics.

It was only a marginal coups that the RNC has him as a speaker. It's a little too little, too late. McCain has lost all of my respect. None of the other speakers engender much confidence either.

Putting Cheney on has to be a brilliant move for us Democrats. He is a poor speaker and a real liability. His speech is guaranteed to swing the polls a couple of points our way.

Swarzenegger will do okay as he is used to speaking to groups of people while attempting to look good doing it. He does not have any of the charisma of Obama, however.

It is very telling when the most effective presenter was left out of the RNC. Where on earth will Colin Powell be? His absence will also hurt the RNC. He is the only really effective speaker the RNC would have had. Perhaps Powell would have had a little too much integrity for the RNC to stomach. He would have won the repubs. a few percentage points, however, with some integrity and honesty.

Finally, there is junior himself. He isn't much of a speaker and has a tendency to stutter over words. He appears forced and unnatural on stage while telling lies. He will talk fluff and avoid addressing real issues. He won't even begin to mention the state of the economy and military, but focus on things such as family values, and cliches like "affordable healthcare", a "safer world from terrorism for our children" and "shoring up Social Security."

While John Kerry could truly salute the American public, shrub gets left to gloss over and avoid his military service while sending America's finest to die for a unjust cause.

The repubs. might as well cancel their convention. It won't provide them any "bounce", but may likely boost the bounce Kerry received from the DNC.

They couldn't even use Nancy Reagan, who would have helped immensely, as a speaker.

The RNC this year will be at best a yawner and at worst a pathetic exercise.

The news media will likely focus just as much attention on the protests that will be going on in the Big Apple as on the RNC. At least the protests will be a great deal more interesting.

13. Fascinating line-up
Women represented by the wives.
Blacks represented by a man who calls teachers terrorists.
Serial gropers represented by Arnold.
A turncoat Democrat.
Overloaded on NY politicos....do they think that will sway NY?
And John McCain.....who knows what he'll have to say about the state of the Republican Party?

And uncurious George to finish it off.

15. It will suck ass
Edited on Fri Jul-30-04 09:19 PM by Ron_GreensboroNC
This week's excellent convention showed a parade of high-quality people speaking on the accomplishments and characteristics of John Kerry (the next President of the United States). What is there to speak positively about the bushler worm? What has he accomplished during this ersatz administration? His life?

Here is my post-convention bounce prediction for w*: Poll numbers will head south. Just like after the State of the Union address in January. Then we get 3 debates, ensuring a Democratic landslide on Nov 2 (unless OBL is produced or a terror strike "occurs").

19. I was thinking
about that SOTU.

I've heard that presidents' approval ratings usually go up after them, but Bush's actually went DOWN.

He's a terrible speaker and a majority of Americans know it. Admittedly he's improved with some help in reading (now he can speak at a 2nd grade level compared to a kindergarten).

The big difference between the two events (SOTU and convention address) is that in the latter he's in NYC and trying to exploit the tragedy for all its worth.

Granted, there was no real movement in the polls last year during the second anniversary, so I'm hoping it'll be the same case this year.
