MSNBC: 4 Edwards delegates pledge to Obama!
Did anyone else see this? On MSNBC I just heard that "Barack Obama picks up support of four of John Edwards Delegates" That's 4 since the Edwards endorsement last night. They didn't say who they were but said that they would keep us posted.

5. I think so
I don't think McDermott is one of them so that would be 5 so far.

8. I had to listen again on my DVR to make sure I heard it right
and sure enough it was reported exactly as I posted it. The quoted part in my post was the text on the screen as it was being announced as "breaking news"

9. That makes 5 new delegates for Obama today
Rep McDermott and these 4. Only 131 to go. By next Wednesday, there'll be less than 60 to go. Obama's closing in on 2025 rapidly.

I don't think that's relevant now.

14. I have the AP news link:
WASHINGTON (AP) — Barack Obama collected the support of four of John Edwards' Democratic National Convention delegates on Thursday, then gained the backing of a West Coast congressman and a large labor union as he marched steadily toward the party's presidential nomination.

The fresh support brought Obama's overall delegate total to 1,892, compared to 1718 for his rival, Hillary Rodham Clinton. It takes 2,026 to clinch the nomination at the party convention in Denver this summer.

Edwards, who bestowed his long-sought endorsement on Obama on Wednesday, won 19 delegates before departing the presidential race in January.

Within hours, Obama picked up the backing of three of them from South Carolina and one in New Hampshire.

In addition, Rep. James McDermott, a superdelegate, endorsed Obama. "I believe now is the time to unite behind Barack Obama so we can be in the strongest place possible to win in November," he said.

Edwards also had been backed by the United Steelworkers Union, which announced it would now support Obama. The union has 600,000 active members.

21. cnn says six
Edwards delegates in South Carolina move to Obama

(CNN) – At least six of John Edwards’ eight pledged delegates in South Carolina will throw their support to Barack Obama following Edwards’ endorsement of the Democratic frontrunner on Wednesday, CNN has learned.

Daniel Boan, Christine Brennan-Bond, Robert Groce, Susan Smith, Mike Evatt and Lauren Bilton — all elected as pledged delegates for Edwards following his third place finish in the South Carolina primary on January 29 — announced Thursday they will follow Edwards’ lead and pledge their support to Obama at the Democratic National Convention in August.

John Moylan, the Columbia attorney who directed Edwards’ campaign in the state and is now serving as an alternate delegate for Edwards, appeared on CNN’s “American Morning” Thursday. He stated his support for Obama and hinted that more members of the Edwards delegation would soon follow.

“I didn't reach all eight of them, but I can tell you that at least six of the eight are prepared to endorse Senator Obama,” Moylan said.
