Joe Klein's defense of Obama crumbles
Time's hack Joe Klein tried to start a new spin, denying that Obama referred to Ahmenijad when talking about the Iranian leaders, but Politi-fact.com (named best newspaper website of 2007) has concluded that:

Obama clearly counts Ahmadinejad among those with whom he would meet. We rate McCain’s statement True.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/495/

The Daily Howler will provide more debunking tomorrow.

By the way, in the Youtube video of the debate question, a picture of Ahmedinejad is shown to the readers and candidates at the same time as "Iran" is mentioned. Same for Chavez and Venezuela, Kim Jong Il and NK, etc.

See the 17th second:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSFSUbMWenU

That's right. Not the picture of the Ayatollah. It's the picture of Ahmedinejad. That's who Wolf meant as "leader" and Obama knew it.

14. She's awfully disenfranchised. Must be from Michigan or Florida.
Of course, since her candidate (McCain) already clinched the GOP nomination, I don't see why she feels so disenfranchised.

47. I just re-watched the miniseries two weeks ago.
It's just amazing to see how the show had progressed from the beginning. It's sad that there's only 13 more episodes, but I'm grateful that they are smart enough to go out on a high note and not meander with silly plot lines like the X-files did. I'm sure they'll leave some doors open for subsequent movies, don't you think?

15. Let me guess, you are an HRC supporter from MI or FL?
And you joined DU to air this one particular grievance as opposed to furthering the Democratic Party in general?

By the way, comparing the situation in Michigan and Florida to what happened in 2000 (or any other example of true disenfranchisement) is insulting. Just because your candidate does it doesn't make it right.

21. wow, debate moderators got their facts wrong
Who would expect that?

Liberal Oasis sees Obama's response as a positive thing

http://www.liberaloasis.com/2008/05/debate_gets_elevated.php

"On MSNBC a few minutes ago, Obama foreign policy adviser Susan Rice just called McCain to task for not recognizing that Ahmadinejad isn't actually the leader of Iran -- a key point that LiberalOasis has long said should be central to reframing the Iran debate.

For too long, we have presumed that we must dumb down the debate in order to win. It will be a seismic shift in our politics if we can win by elevating the debate, introducing "new" information and better informing the electorate."
