Bush to Kerry vote conversions...in a SWING STATE!
first off, I live in Wisconsin, which as we know, Gore won by only 6,000 votes in 2000.

i've been working in carpentry over the summer for some extra money, and today for the first time since i started over a month ago, the two other guys i work with were talking politics. from what i heard ("kerry had 20 years in the senate and only passed 2 bills"), they were obviously bush supporters.

first i corrected them on the number of bills kerry has passed in the senate, then told them that their boy dick cheney had only passed 2 bills the whole time he was in Congress, and neither of them really did anything for anybody.

that was the end of the conversation as i had to go work on a different part of the house, but then, the two of them went on their lunch break. i took a quick water break, and started asking them what they liked about bush and what they didn't like about kerry.

these are good, honest, hard working guys who love their country, they just don't pay as much attention to politics as i do is all. they repeated a lot of RW talking points, which i corrected, and i told them a lot of things about both bush and kerry that neither of them had ever heard. we talked about the war, about unions (both men are union members), about tax cuts and a few other issues (national guard vs. vietnam service, for example).

in all the conversation probably lasted about 20-30 minutes, with both of them, while still a bit skeptical (understandably), saying that if all that i said was true, then they would vote for kerry. i'm home now on my lunch break, so i'm putting together a list of sources for them to check out to verify what i said.

two more kerry votes for wisconsin!

1. Beautiful work!
That's it. A little at a time. It doesn't take much to convert people unless they're right-wing nuts. Way to go :)

order a copy of Fahrenheit 911 on DVD (to be released OCT. 5th) and show that to them. I have won some people over by sending them to see the movie. :kick: If that is out of the question you can always get FACTS to print off from www.snopes.com GOOD GOING!!! (for the work you have already done!)

6. excellent
it is good to remember that many people who vote sometimes do on a rather automatic basis. and many of those people will vote for an incumbant simply out of the lack of any real knowledge about either candidate. way to go with helping people who are decent, just underinformed, to understand what is realy going on!
