Dean seems to think Dean supporters won't vote for anyone but Dean or Nader.

"I don't know where they're going to go, but they're certainly not going to vote for a conventional Washington politician," he said.

34. Encourage (if not too late) for Dean to go Independent.
I wouldnt have said this even one month ago. Lieberman has gone off the deep end, and no more represents (in my opinion) the Democratic party than the man on the moon, much less is he presidential.

He shows absolutely no signs of Party loyalty, (look at his support of Gore during the 2000 fiasco and from then on) and strikes me overall as a weak person and candidate. If he was a presidential candidate, he would have spent his candidacy proving to us why he is a worthwhile candidate. What he has done, has spent time defending his IWR vote, attacking Dean and moving further to the right.

And hes a Democrat? I know his record is good on some things, but not on issues I consider to be the top priorities of this nation right now.

as charasmatic and energizing as Dean.

I think if Dean can go from 1% support to being the frontrunner, I wouldnt put anything past him.

Then again, it would be a big gamble. But as compared to Lieberman or Bush, it might be worth it.

38. Leave the Presidential slot blank.
Lieberman is deluding himself into thinking he has any pull with Democratic voters or the general electorate. His presence on the 2000 ticket was simply part of Gore's failed strategy of distancing himself from Bill Clinton's nasty genitals. Remember that he was the only Democratic Senator to use the floor of the Senate to chastise President Clinton and his nasty genitals shortly after the Lewinsky scandal broke. Despite Gore's misguided strategy, the GOP still managed to effectively portray him as an inveterate liar.

And it looks as if, should Lieberman win the nomination (and the Devil simultaneously begin sporting a brand new set of ice skates), we will see the same reactive campaign that Gore waged in 2000. Every statement Lieberman makes is couched in the GOPs opening argument. Soft on terror, soft on crime, economic protectionism, etc. His only useful purpose is to provide practice for the eventual nominee's battle with the more effective GOP spin machine.

And I would be proud to do it. Lieberman is not nearly as conservative as many on DU make him out to be, and he actually has a very progressive record on many issues. Yes, he is more conservative than the other Democratic candidates, but between him and Bush, the difference is clear.

I am doubtful that Lieberman will get the nomination, though.

Lieberman will not win the nomination. Plain and simple. If he does win it, which is highly, highly unlikely, then you might as well cast your vote to Bush because Lieberman would get slammed big time. You know it and I know it. He is too weak of a candidate.

I do not have to imagine myself in the voting booth deciding between Lieberman and a 3rd party candidate because there's no way in hell he can win the primary. This is why party primaries are a good thing and open primaries are such a bad idea. If it were a big open primary, we would have a choice between Lieberman and Bush.

65. Vote dem
but I think Joe would "lead us out into the political wilderness". He's unexciting to those that aren't politically minded, a good percentage of informed Dems may defect to the Greens because he's too conservative, he's an ineffective campaigner and can be rather inarticulate sometimes. Unless enough of the Republicans are really unhappy with Bush, then I think we'd have a problem.

So, I'd vote for him..I'd work for him..but I think it'd be a lost cause.

I'm so glad we're not in that position. :)

Lieberman is wrong about the war, but he's actually got a solid record of service to the party. Granted he's a bit more moderate on some issues, but his voting record is actually pretty good if you break it down.
