Favorite Leiberman Quote from the Debate |
|
"Saying capturing Saddam doesn't make this country safer because there are still terrorists is like saying that defeating the Nazi's doesn't make us safer because Stalin and the communists are still there."
Does he realize that he proved Dean's point?
What the f was he thinking?

too fucking stupid to realize that the more he slams and cuts down Dean, the worse he looks and the more support Dean gets. Either that, or he's just unbelievably arrogant.

4. Lieberman and Kerry attack Dean more than they attack Bush |
|
This indicates that they are desparate men. Especially Lieberman. His candidacy is more about Him versus Dean than anything.

Lieberman's candidacy is mostly about running against Gore for not supporting him instead of Dean.
"I'll show you, Al, for not supporting me!"
It's kinda like the GOP going over Quayle and nominating Bush Two.

And I think he is a horrible little man for all of his attacks. He is way too desperate. He is self defeating.

Give a man enough rope and he'll hang himself.
The bright side: the more Dean gets bashed and stays on his feet, it seems the more teflon outer-shell he grows.
Let the other Dems do so much bashing that come fall, voters will tune out Bush Inc's bashing, as well.

|
he's hurting the whole of the democratic party. I would not vote for him under any circumstances ever. I not only want my country, I want my party back. I wrote Lieberman an e-mail weeks ago and ask him why didn't he just go ahead and cross the aisle and make it official.

I sometimes tend to think that Lieberman is really a Republican agent sent to divide and destroy the Democratic Party. And he is doing a crummy job at it too!
Give it up Joe and go to the Republicans!

He was backstage just spinning RW talking points about Dean. I am so sick of Lieberman. I can't wait for him to get out of this race. Republican callers on C-Span are now calling Lieberman a Republican. Just shut up, Lieberman.

9. And I don't think he realizes he made Dean's point |
|
when Dean said that people didn't really get a tax cut (except the wealthy) because tuition and property taxes went up. Lieberman was quick to criticize (something about $1800 for an Iowa family), but then later in the debate he stated that states needed help on education because property taxes were going up...hmmm, Earth to Lieberman...

and told him his running mate was a sanctimonious little twit and that I would be voting for Gore in spite of - not because of his running mate.
Of course by then it was too late and we all know how much help the oh so moral little twit was.

18. There's a total disconnect! |
|
I could puke every time he invokes Clintons record as his own.
What about the "I'm a Clinton Democrat!" line?
Not only is it bullshit, but it just goes to show what a Republican shill he is. As badly as the right wingers hate all things Clinton they fall all over themselves to tell us how "Lieberman is the only Democrat with a chance next November" and "Lieberman would raise the level of discourse" - just for our own good of course.... the pubbies only have our best interests at heart! LOL

And a lot of hardcore dems may as well. But that is not the feeling most people have about him, not even a lot of democrats if you look at the polls. The shit he slings at the other candidates can hurt them, they are not being dismissed out of hand by ordinary americans tuning in. He is dangerous, and not a joke, in this regard.

I am in no way a Lieberman supporter, but that attack makes sense to me.
I (will make/can see) an arguement that not having gone into Iraq in the first place would have made us safer today.
BUT,
We had already gone down the attack Iraq path, there is no going back on that, we have done it. That being where we are, we are safer and better off having Saddam captured. Capturing Saddam was/is critical to success in Iraq.
We can't root for failure and expect to lead.
edited because I accidently used brackets...

21. What are you missing? |
|
1. Define "success" in Iraq 2. Define "success" in the war on terror 3. Define "success" in protecting the country (as in domestic necessities - education, helath care, safety, security)
BTW - we're NOT better off having SH captured in the WAY he was captured. Period!

23. I don't think its that, |
|
(these are all pretty off the cuff) 1. From an Iraqi POV A stable iraq; with some form of representitive gov't; recognized and accepted by it's neighbors; non-threatening to its neighbors.
From a U.S. POV Open accountable economy (no sweetheart deals), stop the insurgents. slowly withdrawal forces as possible. get more international support.
2. This doesn't really matter, and that was Liebermans point. It's a seperate threat. I think its great when any Dem goes out and says that Iraq was a diversion from the war against al queda.
I havent heard a single candidate go out and say "Well, we captured Saddam, the war on terror is over. All you 'evildoers' out there can go home."
3. Again it doesnt matter. Iraq has turned into a big mess. Getting Saddam out of there is critical for progress. People were scared he was coming back. The sooner we can succeed in Iraq, the sooner we can refocus all the resources we wasted IN iraq.
BTW - We've got to agree to disagree on this point. Saddam was caught in a little hole in the ground. I think it is important for Iraqi people to realize that he isnt coming back.
The way I look at this is to swap Bush with some Dem candidate. If Dean/Kerry/Clark/Whoever was Pres tomorrow, and then caught Saddam it would still be a very important step.
