but in my case, I was raised by a single mother in the '50s who wasn't paid the same wage for the same job, lost her possessions because her husband used them for collateral on a loan she knew nothing about, who was denied credit strictly because of her gender and status as a divorcee, and who was considered (along with her children) to be second class citizens. When I started working, I faced the same wage discrimination and was very limited in my choice of careers. I guess I'm thinking that what Clinton faced was not as bad as what my mother and I faced because Clinton didn't come from a broken home AND she was upper middle class, giving her more money and thereby more opportunites.
