June 4th is my birthday - Want to guess what present I want that will keep on giving?

Of course I would like to wake up on June 4th to the glorious news that Barack Obama is now the nominee of the Democratic Party!

For those who think that not voting or voting for McCain is the way to go this fall, let me tell you just what it means to have the wrong person in office.

I was a young mother of 5 boys when Reagan came in office and took my husband's Social Security Disability away for no reason in 1980. It took us 3 years to get it back.

Then with H. W. Bush 1 in office my 4th son went to Iraq, followed up 12 years later with my 1st son going to Iraq under W.. Thankfully they are both back home now but believe me it is not easy on any of the troops or their families when they are deployed over there.

Now with W running our country we are on the verge of collapse of the middle class! We are struggling to keep the roof over our heads like millions of others. I have tried for over a year now to find a job with no luck here in Florida, while billions of dollars have been lost in Iraq, let alone the billions paid to VP Cheney's company among others for the privatization of our military scheme that Rumsfeld and his cohorts pushed.

Companies are going out of business here in Florida in large numbers every week! We just saw 3 of them just down the street from us that are gone! Thousands are being laid off, and there are very few good jobs left for those younger graduates that will be out looking in a few weeks!

With the icecaps melting and species upon species disappearing weekly, and the rain forest in Brazil being decimated, what are we leaving to our future generations?

What is the country coming too? What will it take to pull us up out of this quagmire? I believe it will take a true leader who cannot be bought! One who really does listen, and cares about the future of us all!

For the man named Barack Obama, it will not be an easy task, as he has stated! It will take us all digging in and keeping our leaders on the right path! We must be informed and engaged for us and our children and their children!

For all these reasons and more, I ask all those who say they will not vote for the Democratic nominee to forgive the past and move on to a day when we can say that we finally have a honorable leader in our White House and we are standing up with him for the good of our country and all its citizens!

happily, too. Oh, and thank your sons for serving and I don't know where in FL you live but NE Florida is still doing quite well for jobs and businesses so hopefully your area will turn around....
