Hillary Clinton has succeeded in her goal to divide the Dem party in '08 |
|
She has reserved the right to take this compromise to the convention and she will. She will take a victory tomorrow in Puerto Rico as vindication. She will stay in the race and she and her crazy supporters like the woman who pushed an Obama supporter and those who yelled, "McCain in 08" and "Nobama" will make sure that the convention is a disaster. She wants nothing more than to have the democrats lose this year so that she can run again in 2012. If this is some plot to get the vice presidency because "it will be the only way to bring the party together" after the convention I hope Obama will see through that, too.

2. Obama has run a clean campaign while Hill said from the time she lost Iowa |
|
that she was going to throw the kitchen sink and she has. Are you going to vote for Obama in November, yes or no?

6. At this point, it's pretty hard to avoid the fact that Hillary has been playing the "sexism" card... |
|
...and quite successfully, might I add.

She could have showed some class and shut down her more outrageous supporters - but instead she eggs them on.
Obama requested his supporters NOT demonstrate today as a counter-protest to the Hillfans. His supporters respected his wishes.
She could have done the same.
She didn't.

10. The 'hold my breath till I turn blue' strategy probably won't get her too far |
|
in either scenario. Obama would be a fool to put her on the ticket under any circumstances. I'd bet he'd just as soon lose without her than with her. I also can't begin to imagine who would vote for her in 2012 after her disgusting behavior.

13. It might look like that right now, but |
|
this isn't the Clintons call. Voters will have the final say, and with each passing day, Democrats and others are coming around to the "DEMOCRATS versus the Republicans," aspect of this election.
Trust me...I've seen this movie.

14. not even close. most Dems I know don't go to DU or Atrios, etc. |
|
they just go to work every day...read the newspaper...maybe watch some CNN. They will all unite behind our nominee Barack Obama. And they will feel slightly superior to their GOP relatives and coworkers because they are helping to vote in our first African American president.
The division you saw was at the higher party power level and that divide is being mended. The party divide you see now is just a tiny sampling of us whackos who are political junkies and love to hash things out and take intractable positions on DU.
Provided the party can come together and HILLARY can say the things she needs to say in the next week, this protracted battle will have been a net positive.

negotiations in the background
You and I will be the last ones to hear it officially, but it is over
And if she indeed takes this to the convention, her pariah status will be assured.
Look no campaign stops fighting overtly until a second before they concede, but that is coming
Today was the last nail in that coffin and they no longer control the DNC
On and one more thing, MOST people didn't watch the sausage making this morning.
Nor are they paying attention to this
Most of what WE know is truly inside baseball

17. talk to some of your neighbors |
|
unless they are political junkies I can bet they will give you a look of WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? If you ask them what happened this morning.
Or they might bring the whatever sport they are following into the conversation
And as to Clinton concession, there have been signals (some contradicted by Ickes today) that indeed they are getting ready to bow out. But i suspect Ickes move was his last gasp
