How embarassing for us all.
I'm really embarassed by the rabid Clinton supporters today.
(before the flame-throwing starts, note that I made the distinction of "rabid" supporters - very important distinction)

Here's a wrap-up from Newsweek and pretty much all the stories say the same things:

  • They don't even think for themselves: ...many of the protestors tried to stick to the scripts they were given. Edith Liu, a 30-year-old doctoral student from Philadelphia, showed a reporter talking points she pulled off of a pro-Hillary Web site. Liu said protestors were instructed to emphasize the importance of counting every vote and not just ramble on about how "we love Hillary so much." As Liu was speaking a "What do we want?" Democracy! When do we want it? Now!" chant erupted behind her, spurred by emcees holding megaphones. "The Web site says we're not here for Hillary," Liu said.

  • With friends like these, who needs enemies? I'm appalled that a supposed Democrat would say these things and have to agree with LaGrega: James Quinn, a 28-year-old bartender from Carbondale, Pa., spread the Clinton message to anyone who would listen, including a middle-aged couple from Boston in town for a wedding. Wearing a well-worn "Count Every Vote" shirt, Quinn told the couple that Barack Obama took his own name off the ballot in Michigan "because he thought he couldn't win the state and he hedged his bets." Quinn added that he has concerns about Obama's patriotism, and that he'll only consider voting for Obama if Hillary is on the ticket. When Quinn left, Andy LaGrega, the Bostonian Quinn had been preaching to, said he was shocked by the younger man's views. "It was almost like those weird e-mails you get about Obama that obviously don't seem to be truthful, it's almost like he's buying into that," LaGrega said.

  • They have absolutely no grasp on reality and are the absolute worst losers in the history of competition: . Jim Hannigan, 45, president and founder of Florida Demands Representation, said he has spent more than $60,000 of his own money to get the Florida delegates seated. His group has mailed Florida oranges to Rules Committee members and tea bags to state party chairs in Iowa and other early states (invoking the taxation without representation protest of the Boston Tea Party). Hannigan has collected more than 230,000 petition signatures, held several rallies throughout the Sunshine State and bankrolled the travel costs for about 300 Floridians who were dispatched to the DNC meeting. If Clinton loses the nomination, Hannigan said he does not know if he'll vote for Obama. And he warns that Clinton supporters will not go away quietly: "There will be some type of citizen-oriented action to try and affect change within the convention....

  • A carnnival indeed, but unfortunately there are no fun parades, parties or drinks here: Constance Bastiaans and John Human, visiting from Namibia for a telecommunications conference, were amused by the political theater on display. "It's a bit weird, but I like it," Bastiaans, 44, said. Human chimed in, saying that politics in Namibia is nowhere near as emotional. "Definitely we would not have, in one party, a race like this," he said. "It is normally our carnival that looks like this."

And if you think the GOP isn't rolling on the floor in laughter yet, let me remind you of these stellar "Democrats":

THIS HAS GOT TO STOP. I'm appealing to the DNC and the superdelegates to put an end to this within the week. It's gone on long enough - it's just an embarassing circus at this point.

12. Most of the MOST RABID supporters will do the following
STAY HOME

WRITE HER IN

VOTE McCAIN

VOTE THIRD PARTY....

These folks at one time were Dixiecrats or Reagan Democrats... they are scared.

I hate to say it, but talking to my dad I get it... this idea of having a black man in the WH is a huge challenge to the order of things

On the plus side, he is NOT a citizen, but he is from that generation..

By the way, when visiting family in Mexico City I heard some comments that could be lifted from W. Virgina best jewels. (Thanks John Stwart)

I will GLADLY vote for Obama... but for some folks this is truly frightening... even if they don't get it... but they are scared.

I get the sentiment that you are referring to more than the women who will vote for McCain over Obama. The first is generational; the second is moronic. I don't agree with either, but I do understand the first a little bit - the second I just don't get at all.

seriously.

But the first I get it....

And I hope that more of that generation will put aside the skin color

Reality is come November we will have a percentage of folks who will go vote, and do the McCain thing, but tell everybody they voted for Obama. That is a reality as well

I still think Obama will win... by less than he should but he will

And I expect a certain percentage of the population (read what you want to) to go absolutely ballistic over that.

History, damn history degree... but I am thinking Militias right now... RIGHT WING militias

that will not stop me from voting for Obama... but it is a reality still, that race still matters

49. The superdelegates can announce support of Obama and give him 64 more.
Then there's nothing much she can do. She can try to claim that she's staying in case Obama winds up on a boat with a questionable young single girl, a la Gary Hart, but that's false reasoning: there doesn't need to be another candidate still running for the "disgraced" candidate to be replaced.
(and that's not going to happen to Obama anyway)

62. 100% of the SD could announce they were for Obama, wouldn't matter
Their votes aren't final until Denver. No matter how many announce they are for Obama, she is free to keep going to the convention and try to change the delegate's minds.

67. That would be a terrible mistake. It would only strengthen support for Obama.
Hopefully Bill or Chelsea or someone she will listen to will finally make her see that she's only hurting herself further.

47. Oh hell no I'm not embarrassed
And I go on to say that while some of them may be reupukes I'm willing to bet that most of them are true Hilly supporters. This is the atmosphere she created with her crappy campaign. I cannot be embarrassed because the only protest I ever attended where anti-war protest, several of them. These "people" wouldn't be caught dead protesting the war, I guarantee.

60. Two of Your First Three Bullet Points
Edited on Sat May-31-08 09:36 PM by Crisco
Would - and do - equally apply to Obama supporters.

The one about Michigan? It's true. It was reported on initially back in November by an Iowa newspaper who said they had four sources,

http://iowaindependent.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=1264

and it was confirmed in January.

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/01/10/a-ploy-for-uncommitted/

on edit - I'm sorry, that's five sources.

Five individuals connected to five different campaigns have confirmed -- but only under condition of anonymity -- that the situation that developed in connection with the Michigan ballot is not at all as it appears on the surface. The campaign for Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, arguably fearing a poor showing in Michigan, reached out to the others with a desire of leaving New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton as the only candidate on the ballot. The hope was that such a move would provide one more political obstacle for the Clinton campaign to overcome in Iowa.

So. Obama did that, and then one of his super-delegates who received $4k in Obama's PAC money, made a radio advertisement telling Michigan voters that if they wanted to vote for Obama, they needed to vote for "uncommitted."

79. Wright was actually critical of Obama at the news conf. Not rabidly supporting him.
If he'd been rabidly supporting him, he'd have kept his mouth shut and just put an Obama sticker on his forehead and carried a sign that said "Vote for McCain if Clinton nom."

Did HE put the sticker on his head? Is he so drunk he doesn't realize that someone else put a sticker on his head? Is he trying out a new "Ambien and grapefruit" diet? Is he thinking "Boy I love Hillary" or "I can't believe my wife slapped a sticker on my head and made me miss the ballgame for this. Please God, take me now."? So many questions.

Radio Announcer: Civil defense officials in Cumberland have told newsmen that murder victims show evidence of having been partially devoured by their murderers. Consistent reports from witnesses to the effect that people who acted as if they were in a kind of trance were killing and eating their victims prompted authorities to examine the bodies of some of the victims. Medical authorities in Cumberland have concluded that in all cases, the killers are eating the flesh of the people they kill. And so this incredible story becomes more ghastly with each report. It's difficult to imagine such a thing actually happening, but these are the reports we have been receiving and passing on to you, reports which have been verified as completely as is possible in this confused situation.

but I have friends who have lost long-time good friends over this. The Hillary people...it's like they just went off the deep end, like that one guy in your OP who was saying all that stuff about Obama like a bad forwarded email. Just like that. It's like they've been snatched by the body snatchers.

It's so weird and sad and horrifying. What kind of bad voodoo has she done on these people?
