What do you think of Wexler as Obama's VP?
I have been looking at several people that I like but today it just hit me......he is well spoken, intelligent, fights for the people, and the fact that he is from FL helps with that state as well as the south in general. Opinions please....

1. I don't think Wexler would help in the south except for part of FL
But, I do love Wexler.

5. Oh, He's Jewish
That would go a long way towards reassuring a certain constituency.

He's not bad looking either.

He's relatively young and inexperienced, though.

8. We always vote Democratic as a block.
If you want Wexler you want him for Florida's vote, not for the fact he is Jewish.

12. But Obama Struggles There
At least the media is making it sound like a lot of Jews are not sure about Obama because they aren't convinced he'll be a friend to Israel.

And Wexler isn't really known statewide, so not much help there.

I tell you, if he wants some one from Florida, the one to pick is Alex Sink. She's smart as a whip and has kept her North Carolina accent (absolutely adorable). She used to be president of Bank of America and is currently our state CFO. Not much help with military/foreign affairs - but great executive type experience. And her husband really comes off like a good ol' boy - an ex-marine and all.

IF anyone can help get those blue collar voters in Appalachia and bring some Hillary women back into the fold I say Alex Sink.

15. I think most fellow Jews I know trust either Hillary or Obama.
Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 08:00 AM by sellitman
The Republican pandering has been mostly to placate their Messianic Christians, not the Jews.

We know where our bread is buttered and it ain't with the repiggies.

29. That's the trouble
Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 09:31 AM by JoFerret
- vulnerable. Too many "weak" areas in terms of voting blocks. Not sure how much a VP helps though.

A non-observing deeply secular Jewish pro-Israel white working class woman over the age of 55 from the south respected in the Middle East with strong foreign relations and diplomacy credentials with deep understanding of world history economics and the impact of globalization and a commitment to radical social change including social justice the environmental crisis and universal health care and a willingness to stand up and be counted and a proven record as a vote getter.

Anyone come to mind?

22. And that's the reason
Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 08:15 AM by FlaGranny
he's not a great choice - most have never heard of him. Experience? He's been a member of the Florida state senate, 1990-1996; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Fifth Congress and to the five succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1997-present). He was also a member of the impeachment committee and was a great spokesman AGAINST impeachment.

Edit: No Congressperson is more liberal. More experience than Obama and Hillary combined. :-)

31. I agree.
But I think the national mood is to put the past seven years behind us and move-on. A candidate that promised to create a legal circus around the misdeeds of the current administration would be taking a big risk, and an unnecessary one. What happens after he is elected is another matter of course.

19. Robert Wexler -
He is my Congressman and I just love him and he would make a super VP, but I'm afraid he is not the best choice because he is little known outside of Florida, except to C-SPAN junkies. He is rather fiery and I'm not sure how much independents and moderate Republicans would like him. But for me personally? - I'd LOVE to see Robert as VP of the US of A.

20. No Way In Hell.
And it never ceases to amaze me how easily impressed people are. All it takes is a good speech from anyone and all of a sudden there are a million declarations of "Mr x for VP!!!!!".

Makes people look so dumb and thoughtless.

I think he has earned himself a speaking roll at the convention and a chance to increase his name recognition and leadership within the party.

They lose Florida, they LOSE. If he could deliver Florida, that alone would be worth it.

32. Florida is too screwed up, there's too many DINOS there
when you have Dems helping GOP stay in office, you are screwed.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz is on a committee to get Dems elected - and what
does she do?

She protects hard core right winger GOP congressmen instead!
