I knocked on 102 doors today, changed 8 uncommitted voters to vote Obama on Tuesday
The main issue on peoples minds today seemed to be insurance and medical bills.

I used to work for Pfizer (3 years of anti-generic / norvasc spin was all I could handle) and used my personal experience with the Pharma PAC as as an issue.
How, inside the big drug companies, PACs use BIG $$$ to lobby and to insure that Pfizer makes a steady profit, use their profits to fight generics in India, and don't allow insurance companies to negotiate their prices to save you money; and, if we don't change that big $$$ lobby structure, you will NEVER see a fare price for medicines and medical visits. (I know there are more issues with pharmaceutical cost and legitimate research spending, but in a 5 minute blurb, this starts the discussion)

Left literature @ 87 doors.

About 20% (over 20) knew of the meeting going on today.
The rest were not really informed about the exact FLA & MI issues.

Many were just working in their yards (beautiful day here today - 70, sunny, light breeze) and agreed to put Obama signs up.

Not one passionate McCain supporter - a few willing to admit voting GOP for other races in the city / state.

The most uncomfortable visit was a Hillary supporter who basically told me get off her porch, didn't I see the Hillary sign (yes, but I like debate).

I was in a liberal part of town - next to Rocky Mountain College.
Back out early tomorrow - we will win MT on Tuesday and in November.

Good day in Billings MT!

He's already sold out to the health insurance industry and will not enact meaningful health care reform.

More proof in his health care reform plan, which is deliberately designed to fail.

http://money.cnn.com/2006/07/12/news/newsmakers/healthcare_clinton/index.htm

The health-care industry, once a fierce critic of then-first lady Hillary Clinton's reform plans for the sector, is now lavishing campaign contributions on the U.S. senator ahead of her expected presidential bid.

According to Center for Responsive Politics, a non-partisan group that tracks campaign finance filings, Clinton has received $781,112 in contributions from the health-care sector during the current election cycle, which makes her the No. 2 recipient of funds from that sector, behind only Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., who received $977,354."

I'm sure that money is intended to ensure that a single-payer system is right around the corner once she gets elected.

God the hypocrisy of you people stuns me daily.

WTF do you think Hillary Clinton's plan is other than a mandated giveaway to the private health insurance companies?

Why do you think they contribute the most to Hillary Clinton for President?

Open your eyes.

28. Clinton laid the groundwork
and is building on it. Too bad Obama only wants to play political games with health care reform. Perhaps he can show his "commitment" by giving up his family's health insurance coverage until everyone has universal, affordable coverage. Quite a few Dems in Congress have done that.

50. that is a heck of alot of doors in one day
and each knock makes a huge difference. Even if someone said they supported
Obama, that knock on the door helped ensure they would go to the polls.

I did some canvassing, and I asked people to encourage their friends to get
out and vote, that this primary would decide who would be the next president.

I'll be working all summer on the campaign, 6 weeks of it as part of the organizing fellowship program. I think they want me in Ohio (where I live) but I'm tempted to request working in another state. A change of scenary would be a welcome change, and I'd learn more about the local politics of a different state
