How many "guilty white GOP" folks will vote for Obama
because it's an opportunity to reject Bush but also a "feel good" move for them?

I've thought about that a lot. If it was McCain and Mr. WASP on the Dem side, I don't think you'd get the same dynamic, obviously. The point I'm trying to make is that for every person the pundits say might not vote for Obama because he's black, I think there are at least as many who wouldn't vote for a Dem ordinarily but will this year.

Any thoughts? (Besides empty calls of racism)?

1. More like "fed up" than "guilty."

2. Ridiculous - I Don't Know Anyone Who Feels Guilty, Do You?
Obama is intelligent, moral, compassionate and the best candidate left. That is why he is getting my vote.

5. I was talking about REPUBLICANS who would cross over
and vote for him. That it would possibly be one of their secret motivations. I voted for him because he ROCKS in many ways. He is what a leader should be in character, poise, language, and decision making.

7. I Don't See That Happening
It is simply a Republican talking point to give people a reason not to vote for him despite being the best candidate.

3. His color is immaterial to thinking people. His message resonates.
A change, for the better, in DC? What's not to like about that? What's not to like from a man who studied constitutional law, when we need someone with that knowledge so desperately? His charisma and integrity during this primary doesn't hurt at all, nor does the ground game Obama's team showed. If he can run the country like he ran his campaign, I'd be delighted!

4. Ridiculous! Please don't.
That's Hillary supporter's argument as to why any White Person would vote for Obama.

As a person of color, your headline is offensive to me, for certain. It's like saying folks like what I write simply because of my race....even those who might disagree with my views.

6. if you agree with Noam Chomsky that motive doesn't matter...results do...
would you really care if some Republican white people voted for Obama partly out of white guilt and it helped catapult him to the White House where his actual governing and leadership capabilities would shine for all to see?

I just raise the point because I know it will be raised a lot in future.

8. they don't have to - they can vote against McCain either way will do
You do realize that we are campaigning against one of the worst campaigners in one of the worst years for Republicans imaginable?

9. yes. it is funny to watch him speak.
but for some reason, I think Hillary is fighting so hard PRECISELY because she knows it's hers in a cake walk in November. Either Dem looks quite strong against McCain.

Obama just happens to look WAY WAY stronger.

10. just wait until Obama starts running him into the ground with 5 stops a day

I can't wait until he starts campaigning in Arizona - McCain is only polling 50% in his home state.

12. I've met dozens of Republicans who are Obama supporters and are switching parties
They feel betrayed by the Republican party. Nearly ALL hate McCain and would NEVER vote for a Clinton. Obama? They like him.

I get this from doing grassroots works in the streets.
