Poll question: If Clinton is not the Dem Nomineee... I will:
One of my best friends states that "he will vote McClone" if Clinton is not the nominee. I asked "Why not vote Green instead of McClone because Nader represents your thoughts more closely"? Said he hates Republican ideologies, but will vote McClone just to "teach the Dem party a lesson they will never forget". To ensure Obama loses to McClone no matter what the price is to the country an our people so that Hillary has a chance at 2012.

If Clinton is not the Dem Nominee... I will:

96. I'm not sure what you read into that statement, but I know that I, for one, ...
will be looking to see a) how Hillary behaves
during the General Election and in her remaining
time in the Senate and the, if necessary, b) if
Hillary has a challenger in the 2012 Senate
Primary.

And if she's continued to disappoint, I'll be
glad to help support her challenger.

And that's what *I* read into that statement.

He is falling for that RW smear campaign thinking Obama is the Antichrist... and all that BS. Plus the fact that Obama is Black.

Very sad and makes me sick to my stomach.

He is a very bright guy too.

Question... How do we get the folks who answered "Grudge Vote for McCain" eliminated from this board?

Seems that if they will not support the Dem Nominee (whom ever that may be), they really should not be here.

who stay home or who vote for the other party. He has to earn every vote.

Stop threatening everyone and instilling fear. Try a new approach, like encouragement, pitching in, or useful anecdotes as to how to get your support. People are really getting sick of the dozen or so repetitive Hillary supporter Nay-sayers.

54. For starters he needs to show people respect and stop acting like he is the leader of a
revolution and those of us who aren't with him have not yet let go of the old politics.

He should also retract some of the harsh things he has said about Sen. Clinton, because they reflect not just on her (unfairly IMO) but also on those of us who voted for her "knowing" all these things.

He needs to show some respect to those of us who believe in universal health care, and indicate a willingness to move in our direction.

He needs select a running-mate who somehow offsets his many shortcomings.

He needs to stop acting so arrogant and self-righteous and talking to me like I'm an idiot.

He needs a more substantive plan addressing the forclosure crisis.

This would be a good start. Then we can talk more.

52. It is not your role to "eliminate" anyone from this board
However, if you want to get the folks who selected that option to change their mind - and I am not one of them - at least on this board you can start by being nice to the Clinton supporters.

Stop attacking them, no Hillbot or other offensive names. Stop attacking Hillary herself. Just shut up. You won. Can you now not glee and just let things quiet down?

People who would rather vote for McCain are angry at the attacks on Hillary that, in most cases, had nothing to do with her candidacy but more along Tucker who said that he "crossed his legs" when he heard that she was running. With Randy and others calling her a whore and a bitch.

Read this

http://www.newstatesman.com/north-america/2008/05/obama-clinton-vote-usa-media

and you may start to get an understanding.

No, you don't have to try to be nice and reconcile with the Clinton supporters but if not, then you are as guilty as the ones who would not vote for the nominee in losing the elections.

14. I'll vote for McCain
However the lesson I want to teach the Democratic Party is that Americans want a president who supports 100 more years of war and wants to deny reproductive choice. Then maybe they'll move even further to the right. I just hope that this is how they choose to interpret my vote instead of making the assumption that I was bitter because they didn't give full credit to a primary where only one of the candidates was on the ballot.

19. That is the kind of self-righteous, belittling comment that has infuriated so many people
and hurts Obama's chances in November. The point is to denegrade Senator Clinton.

But hey....there is a new coalition. Of course, I have yet to see it outside of caucus states. And I'm not betting on Barack to carry Idaho or North Dakota.

In one year Obama will be an irrelevant Junior Senator trying to live down his humiliating 48 state defeat.

29. So...
My point was not to denigrate Senator Clinton. My point was to explain why how I think she is damaging the party. I wasn't asking others to believe me. I was merely stating my opinion. And, I fail to see how trying to convince others to put down the misogynist signs and bullhorns and get with the program is a detriment to Obama's chances in November. As far as I'm concerned the only thing that would damage Obama in November is a retribution vote for McCain. We need to stop this infighting now and get behind the candidate.

48. Well then I'm sure you will lead the charge in demanding that Sen. Clinton speak in prime time
at the convention so that our party can come together and everyone can feel good.

I am sure you will write to Sen. Obama and ask him to seriously consider a Clinton supporter, like Wes Clark or Maria Cantwell, for his running-mate.

I am sure you will support Sen. Clinton's efforts to include a plank in the Democratic platform about universal health care coverage--not just a theoretical position like Obama/Cooper.

I am sure you will support stripping Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann of their press credentials to the Convention due to their misogynistic comments.

I am sure that if Sen. Clinton campaigns for Obama you will chastise any DU members who condescendingly say: "she has to do this to redeem herself. Obama doesn't really need her--she needs him."

And I have no doubt that in order to win over Clinton voters you will write a post talking about why you were going to vote for Clinton if she had been the nominee.

69. I would want Hillary to speak at the convention in a soothing and reparing position
I would not ask for her supporters to be picked as Obama's running mate. It is stupid to do such a thing simply to make people happy. The strongest candidate should get the chance. Partisanship and I are not bedfellows.

The position by Obama is a better plan, not forcing people to take healthcare who don't want it but otherwise giving everyone else who do said care. Those who don't should then be forced to pay some sort of penalty. The idea that Obama is forgeting people is FALSE. Let me repeat that... F A L S E. Those not included are ONLY THOSE WHO OPT OUT. That other dribble is a con-act by angry partisans that I will not precipitate.

I will not strip KO of anything because you aren't happy that he supported Obama before it was cool. I don't know why you don't like Chris Matthews either. But I wouldn't strip him of press credentials either. As to do so (for either of them) based solely on their personal views is A VIOLATION OF FREE SPEECH.

I do not have to chastise DU members. They are themselves and do what they want. Their views and mine are our own individually and I am not the moral police. Further, at this point, Obama does not need Hillary. He will beat McLame even if all radical HRC protesters choose to vote for him for their partisan reasons like "to teach the party a lesson" or "so she can run in 2012" because there are plenty more people who will come to their senses and realize that this is about the PARTY not the INDIVIDUAL. How do I know this will happen? BECAUSE IT ALWAYS HAPPENS. AND: She would need him if she wants a cabinet position. As, she CANNOT WIN.

And, I would have voted for Hillary if she was the nominee. I am a Democrat not a partisan tagging along the coat tails of a cult of personality.

Any other questions? Sob stories or scenarios?

Not need for the cowardly thirteen to come forward.
But alerting on this thread might help "seal the deal".

91. Here is a little hint: Do a search before posting these polls
There is one almost every day. Many are sick and tired of being asked this over and over.

I no longer vote in these polls. If you want to know the answer, do a damn search.

But then I think you already knew there is a poll on this almost every day. You could not read this forum and NOT know that.

So my conclusion would be that you are just intent on being obnoxious.

93. There are infinitely more important things at stake this year than petty grudges
Edited on Mon Jun-02-08 07:40 AM by TragedyandHope
It was a hard fought battle with unfortunate things said and done on both sides. We have to move past that and remember that we're trying to pull the country up out of the hole Bush and his criminal gang have spent the past 8 years digging.

THE COUNTRY IS IN CRISIS. This Primary race has been a miraculous distraction from all the atrocities committed against this country by our own government.

There is no reason to let the media circus and Rethug operatives steer us into a frenzy of self-immolation. They think we're the same bunch of suckers that let them steal the country for the past 8 years. Let's prove them wrong, instead of letting them play us like a fiddle and working against our own best interests.
