There's something happening here...
Today the Rules & Bylaws Committee of the DNC ignored a pack of protesters charging sexism and misogyny and basically told the first serious female candidate for the Democratic Nomination that her candidacy was over. In years past, the DNC would have frozen like the proverbial deer in the headlights and caved to the demands of an important interest group. Not this time.

On the same day, the first serious African American candidate for the Democratic Nomination quit the church he had been attending for twenty years. The main reason is that his church had become the poster child for black victimhood -- first a former pastor and then a guest speaker blaming white people for what's wrong in the black community. In years past, the candidate would have used that sense of entitlement as a bludgeon to get his way. Not this time.

There's something happening here. What it is ain't exacly clear.

May you live in interesting days, people.

2. Very astute, Jeff
Today's events are going to reverberate, though hopefully increasingly faintly, throughout the election year.

Interesting, indeed.

3. Well hopefully they are happy days.
Maybe something's finally set a fire under the DNC. Like 100 years of war perhaps. Or the fact that in the next 8 years 2-4 SJC justices will retire. Well... better late than never I suppose.

4. You better stop hey what's that sound?
It's the sound of the entrenched interests in the Democratic party losing control of the party's controls.

9. On the nose...
The tattered remnants of the "Old Deal" coalition just lost control of the party. Barak Obama now has the opportunity to create a "New Deal" that might last for another forty years.

Here's to him. He's our future.

5. "may you live in interesting times" was a Chinese curse
to throw out at someone. I'd much rather live in the Ming dynasty during periods of relative calm than the days of warlords and Ghengis Khan. I'd much rather live in Pax Romana than the days of Julius Caesar.

If you have to be in the middle of interesting times....it is good to be in the center and experiencing it...but I'd much rather live under my own vine and fig tree and help my neighbors bring in their harvest.

LOL. But I do know what you mean. We are seeing Democrats turn the corner and stop being slaves to every little special interest. And once again, it is the Democratic party that is being progressive.

May you live in interesting times is reputed to be the English translation of an ancient Chinese proverb and curse. It is reported that it was the first of three curses of increasing severity, the other two being:

* May you come to the attention of those in authority
* May you find what you are looking for

16. I don't believe in Chinese curses...
especially those that can't actually be authenticated.

Interesting times. Tumultuous times. Or as one of my favorite bands has said...

It's the end of the world as we know it. And I feel fine.

10. Obama's church hosted hateful racists and misogynists
They don't deserve any sort of "protection". Their beliefs are far out of the mainstream and should be held up as an example of how clergy should not behave.

12. Um. . .yeah.
Nobody's a victim these days. This is GOOD NEWS. We have finally realized the rights of all people and have grown in that respect.

We're together, and we're responsible for ourselves.

15. Yes, and Obama signaling his supporters to stand down and not create any more of a circus
than the Hillary's rudely screaming fanatics (or were they GOP plants?) were determined to stir up, was
a stroke of genius on Obama's part; only making me all-the-happier that he's going to be our nominee...
