Sure are a lot of suicide runs going on here tonight -
maybe 5 folks just hammering away at their freeper talking points, the racism, a little pastorbating, more of the "he's doing that Chicago gangsta" stuff....

I think these folks are either really just upset and will be fine in a few days or they are truly DINO's and will get the concrete chicklet.

I hope they calm down and do what's right for the party...but I don't know....

I read about his mastery of bare knuckle Chicago politics?

19. I like how he doesn't play smear politics.
I don't care if he uses the system to his advantage, hell I want him to, but divisive tactics such as wedge issues have become tiresome. I can truly say that as of right now I have no opinion on abortion or gun rights. I really don't care about wedge issues anymore.

42. It bodes very well for the GE.
He's played the primary very straight, even somewhat laid back, unwilling to alienate Dems by attacking his Democratic opponants. But his Chicago experience shows he can go on the offensive and deal with bare-knuckle tactics when he has to, as he will in going up against Bushco.

He's not going to be swiftboated.

Just the skills to get out the vote and the guts to stand the onslaught of the opposition.....

If he wasn't two floors above the norm he never would have survived Chicago, let alone the road for the last what - 18 months??

So, I guess I missed a lot of excitement around DU tonight! Are they leaving in droves yet? What's the ETA?

You don't rise to the top in Chicago without throwing a few punches. Those who think that unity means Obama is going to kiss the Republican ass are mistaken. Unity means driving a wedge between the center-right and the far right and tying McGramps to the latter.

32. I'm on board with Obama ... with reservations.
Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 02:10 AM by TahitiNut
My bruised nose can take it if he's on the ballot. That's more than I could say with Hillary. Her campaign has exposed some appalling character deficits, poor money management, and poor choice in staff. Her Senate record has too many serious flaws. So, going into the campaign, she had to do something to WIN me over. She did the opposite. Neither her nor Obama's stances on major policy areas thrills me much at all. I think Obama is a risk ... but a risk I'm gladly willing to take. They're a family I'd love to have in my neighborhood ... as friends. I adore Michelle and the kids. I'd enjoy playing HORSE with Obama in the driveway, chatting about moral dilemmas. He's probably as bright or brighter than Gore.

I continue to be a Kucinich supporter. He's closer to my perspectives than I recall any presidential candidate has ever been. I was willing to go with Edwards - with misgivings about his Senate record. Obama doesn't have too much baggage. I'm hoping he gets in and takes a somewhat more liberal stance. It'd be refreshing as hell after 28 years of corporate ass-kissing. I'd also enjoy watching Malia and Sasha wrap White House staff around their little fingers ... growing up and "keeping it real."

Besides... the attractive chicks are in the Obama Room.

He's got a Town Hall style campaign event on Monday at noon about 5 miles due north of me, at Troy High School (Oakland County, Michigan). I wish like hell I was in a position to attend. I'd just love to get a first-hand impression and ask questions.

16. Yes, the votes, count them.
If you count all the states, Obama won.
If you count all the delegates, Obama won.
If you count the popular vote, including expected popular vote in caucus states, Obama won.

No theft ala Gore v Bush, no gerrymandering out of states because Hillary doesn't like the results, indeed, count it all.

Obama Won.

45. Yes, with MI and FL, Obama still has the popular vote.
Hillarymath assumes that Caucus states didn't "vote", and Obama got 0% of the vote in MI.

This is why her advocates are laughed at on television when they bring it up as a talking point.

Thankfully, the rules committee had a more sober assessment.

Fault is in thinking that only people who voted for Hillary mattered?

Fault is in thinking that "Undecided" votes on that ballot should be trashed?

Who needs this kind of destructive, selfish element in our party, anyway? The Clinton holdouts have become the antithesis of everything we stand for.

I don't think she'll take this thing to Denver, but you're free to be petulant and stand outside and wave signs or something while Obama gives an historic speech on the occassion of his nomination.

31. On my walk tonight, I broke it down for myself into categories.
There are supporters who are feeling disappointment but who are handling it because life is short and there's a lot of more important things to care about; there are True Believers who have an idealized investment in their person and who will need a little more time and consideration when things don't go as they wanted them to go; there are a few really loud people who are not running on all cylinders and that probably has nothing to do with politics, really; there are trolls who are just here to make trouble because they have no life.

That's probably true of any candidate's following.

We'll be okay. Remember that any little bit of drama gets amplified on DU. Because we can. lol :)
