1. good point...so if you don't vote for Obama, you are unpatriotic...
and you don't give a darn about our troops. Nice, I like it!

11. HuH? I'm an Obama person, true and blue....I was commenting
and agreeing with you. Perhaps you read it wrong or I didn't state it plainly enough?

I agree, voting for McCain or staying home equates to being unpatriotic.....because we all know we need to CHANGE this country....

14. That sounds familiar...
Not too far from the absurdity that was shoved down our throats a few years back, 'member?

"If you don't support Bush, you support the terrorists."

"If you vote Democratic, you aren't patriotic."

"If I put this magnetic yellow ribbon on my Hummer, that means I love 'Murika."

Relax....this has been an extremely contentious primary, and DU is hardly an accurate barometer of the party as a whole. If people are here on DU, they know what's at stake. They'll come around.

15. oh sorry about that, but i didn't mean to suggest lack of patriotism
i meant to suggest that not voting for the nominee may not hurt you, but it might keep our troops in Iraq for a very long time.

i should have explained myself and sorry to jump on you. :hi:

4. I don't presume whether other people are patriots or not
But I have serious questions about their commitment to our troops if they aren't voting for Obama.

2. It all depends on peoples' priorities. If they are Dems, there are no
grudge votes. That's why he will lose, except with fanatics from both parties.

5. Here's one such fanatic:

Note: Several days ago, I was idly looking at my 3900 post count, and was wondering if it might hit 4000 by the end of the month. Well, thanks to the current LUNACY here, it hit OVER 4100 before the month was up! I've also been very reluctant to ascribe "sinister" motives to recent members of DU with low vote counts ---- UP TILL NOW. But I'm learning, slow but sure!

6. You think those idiots care?
They're so centered on themselves and what they want that if they were ever thinking about our troops and what was really at stake with this election, they never would have approached the realm of lunacy in which they currently reside.

7. I'm sure sensible people will calm down and compare the difference

Sen. Obama was NOT my first choice either!

I have heard some people say that since Sen. McCain is a liberal or moderate Republican - he really wouldn't be that bad. After all he is against torture, he supported campaign finance reform and he accepts the scientific consensus about global warming.

But let's take a look and compare how different their voting records actually are.

Let's see if Sen. McCain is REALLY such a moderate or liberal Republican or a maverick:

All figures are interest group ratings from 2007, except when those figures were not available, in such cases I will post the ratings from 2006 or 2005-2006:

8. LOL - A 100 year penalty for not supporting Clinton.
That'll teach 'em. :sarcasm:

I laugh, but actually this is all so sad. I'm seeing a side of people in this primary that I didn't know existed. Hillary has done a lot for the party, I'll give her props where props are due. But, whether she can leave with any of her legacy left intact remains to be seen.

9. That Bush and the Media have done a great job at censoring the public ....
from the war. Bill Moyers and Phil Donahue talked about this. You don't see the devastation so you don't think about it.

12. Assuming that all troops & families would vote for Dem nominee?
If they overwhelmingly voted Dem, ie to get the hell out of there, and Dem "grudge" votes put McCain in office, then yes, it's not cool.

But you're right, in principle. I see where you're going with this.

I really think people are just blowing off steam. If people are here on DU, they know what's at stake. Once the nom's in, and people stop the name-calling, then things will settle down.
