An Idiot's view of how Florida screwed up the primaries
Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 02:10 AM by nvme
The Legislature In FL is majority Republican. we also have a republican governor. The whole fiasco was caused by the Dem's not fighting enough. the legislation was proposed just after the republican losses in 06. The republicans were stinging badly from the hurt. the republicans attached a beneficial property tax item onto the primary date change. The had Dem's fought against it the Re pubs would have used the tax issuer to vilify Dem's; they would say Dem's are against tax relief. The dem legislature went along with it figuring the DNC wouldn't really punish FL for violating campaign dates; Especially since it was the re pubs who submitted the legislation. To compound the situation the Dem's in FL were kind of cheeky about it. So DNC went hardball. After that, re pubs saw it was dividing the Dem's. Why make the Dem's job any easier was the re pubs logic. It was a Nasty ploy on the Re pubs worthy of Herr Karl Rove.

I am a Floridian and know how at times my state seeks the center of attention
