How about Rep. Wexler for keynote speaker at the convention?
I remember seeing a thread about ideas of who could be the keynote speaker at the convention. Right now, I think there might not be anybody better than Wexler! He was amazing at the RBC meeting. And he's from Florida, so it would help with the unity if he gave the keynote. Just an idea!

1. I support that idea
Also maybe he can challenge Martinez in 2010. Martinez's approval rating is 37%. Senator Wexler... I really like the sound of that.

5. She'd certainly speak
She will go into the convention with a considerable number of delegates as the runner-up. Even if she was not entitled to speak as the choice of those delegates, I would doubt the Convention would deny her a spot as a point of personal privilege. Major rivals of the nominee during the run-up to the convention have always been given a prime-time slot. Virtually all of Kerry's opponents spoke in 2004, and Bill Bradley spoke in 2000. Even Ted Kennedy spoke after unsuccessfully trying to win the nomination, at the Convention no less, in 1980.

Only exception: The DNC barred Lyndon LaRouche from speaking in all the years he ran, even when he won delegates, because he was, and is, a convicted felon and a crackpot. "The Jews and the Queen of England conspired to kill John F. Kennedy, and now let me introduce to you the next Vice President of the United States, Joe Lieberman!"

He slapped Ickes really good. If I was in Florida I'd vote for him.

4. My dark horse is Lee Fisher, Ohio's Lt. Gov.
I'm really hoping he gets some speaking time to launch a Senate race against Voinovich, plus his speaking skills are outrageously good.

7. He was great yesterday. But, for the convention we want someone to unite
the party.
