my mother called Obama "my young 'un" Saturday night

I know this isn't big news or anything. But I thought it was kind of cool.

I was hanging around with my mom. I know I really need to socialize more. ;)

Fox News was on, for some reason, and Hannity came on and he was spewing all kinds of bullshit about Obama and Wright and Phleger and lapel pins and all that stupid stuff.

And my mother said "I wish they would all leave my young 'un alone."

My mother is a white woman in her mid-sixties She has always lived in Alabama.

Take my word for it, she wasn't being condescending.

I just thought it was kind of cute.

as a (white) woman in her 50s, I can also say that Obama is very endearing. He's tough without being hard, smart without being pompous, he may not give as much access to the press (or so I've heard), but he seems genuine when he does. He seems to be very centered.
