Harold Ickes would not answer the question about congratulating Obama... |
|
if he gets enough delegates to go over the top. Question was asked more than once.
"We expect to get the nomination. We don't accept the premise of your question."
So, he doesn't accept a possible "if."
Geesh

9. How can you not understand the obvious? |
|
Clearly, the premise of the question was that Obama could obtain enough delegates to win. And clearly, when one is talking about pledged delegates, that is impossible. He can't do it unless (1) Hillary drops out, or (2) he goes all the way to the Convention and enough Super Delegates vote for Obama during the final vote to put him over the top.

Super delegates don't count when it comes to reaching the magic number to clinch the nomination - only pledged delegates count towards that number.
And Obama can't possibly obtain enough of them, especially with three big losses for him coming up today and Tuesday.
Super Delegates don't count at all until the final vote at the Convention. It doesn't matter which of them pledges for whom at this point in time beyond mere psychological impact. Their views at this point of time are irrelevant to whether or not Obama can clinch the nomination before the Convention.

23. So even after super delegates express that they are for Obama and will vote for him |
|
Clinton is still going to take it to the convention?
This is absurd. She's destroying our chances to win in 2008.
Oh...wait.
She wants us to lose so she can win 20012.

24. That's the way it works. Because SDs can say anything and change their minds at any time. |

They don't get to make a firm commitment until they actually vote at the Convention.
This has nothing to do with Hillary. It's really absurd to twist it like that. This has to do with the way the system works. Period.
It sounds like you're just reaching desperately for some flimsy excuse to bash Hillary.
Let's say Obama gathers up 500 loudmouth, blowhard Pelosi-style SDs to make public announcements in front of TV cameras all squawking in their shrillest voces at Hillary to drop out "for the good of the party" to try to publicly embarass, humiliate, and harass her into dropping out of the race. If that doesn't work, and she stays in as she has pledged to do, they're just embarassing themselves and causing a lot of divisiveness in the party. If she stays in the race, which seems more and more likely, nothing the SDs say or do can decide anything until they cast their final vote at the Convention.
So IMHO, SDs should keep their mouths shut until the Convention, "for the good of the party".

and 2012 comes to mind
After this... you think you will even get the opportunity for your candidate to run in 2012?
I sure hope that HER CAMPAIGN is far more rational about this

30. The you're just a huge idiot and have no desire for dems to win the GE |
|
That's why the SDs WILL put your girl out of our misery on wednesday. She can still stay in and look like a desperate loser and get voted out in the first round if she really wants. Meanwhile Obama and the Democratic Party will be fighting the GE against McCain.

When Ickes said yesterday that Hillary, "reserves the right" blah, blah, blah it's the same as a team playing under protest - it never changes the outcome of the game.

Both of these SCUMBAGS are EXACTLY what is wrong with Washington and both should be run out on a rail after being tar and feathered...and that's the charitable punishment for these two. I'd much prefer that they existed during the era of the French Revolution. Those who supported the corrupt powerbase at the time were dealt with in a much more efficient manner.
