Did Dean say this about the war at the Iowa Debate?

"I opposed the Iraq war when everyone else up here was for it."

I don't recall him saying this. What was Kucinich's reaction?

1. That's a misquote
He said that he, Kucinich and CMB were the only people on the stage to oppose the IWR from the beginning.

That's being pro-resolution to authorize use of force, even if unilateral.

Dean was NOT antiwar.

With the ONLY additional obstacle that Bush send a letter of his determination that force was necessary to the Speaker of the House and to the Pres pro tem of the Senate.

When he gets serious about actually DOING something about his lies, he will go up on my list. Until then, the bottom with Lieberman.

CNN should have a transcript up soon. He did not say it. I have tried to contact AP before, and they never correct anything. And the news media print what they say verbatim.

That is called lying. And that is what there is a lot of.

42. He was pro-IWR originally...
Dean as well as Kerry supported giving the President the chance to use a multi-lateral force to go to Iraq as the last option. Bush lied about what was happening and Dean changed his opinion later.

Here are Dean's two version of his take on the Iraq War:

"But on Iraq, Dean has issued what appear to be contradictory remarks. In a February speech he denounced Bush for "focusing...on the wrong war at the wrong time," claimed that he (Dean) was "not ready to abandon a search for better answers" and called for continuing inspections "as long as there is progress toward disclosure and disarmament." But previously, Dean proclaimed that Washington should issue Iraq a sixty-day deadline to comply with the UN resolutions and if it does not, then "we will reserve our right as Americans to defend ourselves and we will go into Iraq." Then, at a Democratic National Committee meeting on February 21, he attacked the Democratic Party leadership for "supporting the President's unilateral attack on Iraq."

That is how it goes. One paper told me one day they were not allowed to correct even an obviously wrong AP story. I said so if you know it is wrong you are forced to print it anyway. Their answer was yes.
