So let me get this straight. You were insulted on DU, for no other reason than your political beliefs. You were called names because of your age, race, gender, orientation, religion, personal income, or who you want to become the next president.
And this makes you special....HOW?
Brothers and sisters, I have been here only a relatively short time (November 2006), but within that year and a half I have been called every name in the book by complete strangers. I have been attacked for being young, for being college educated, for living in Brooklyn; for being a white male, and for supporting Barack Obama whilst being a white male. I was once even slimed for admitting I was a Jew, although the poster who slimed me was clearly Jewish himself. I say all this not to boast or ask for sympathy; I'm just saying that it happened.
But guess what? I'm OK with it. Because 95% of the people here have been decent to me; and I honestly feel I've been decent to 95% of the people here. Sure, I've had my differences with people who support Hillary Clinton, but most of the time, our discussions ended with some sort of concession or agreement. When I invited or answered to personal attacks, I received them--and some people do nothing BUT troll these boards looking for discord. Some of them are Obama supporters, some are Hillary supporters, and some are very obviously Republicans playing with matches while Mommy is out shopping.
This has been a long and emotional primary, and we're all tired and bloodied. You might think of yourself as singularly victimized by this message board, but at this point, DU is FULL of victims clutching their wounds. We're ALL victims. But we're also a bunch of distracted nobodies sitting at our desks and hammering out gobbledygook on our idiot machines.
Please remember, any resemblance to the outside world is purely coincidental.:)
