"Sexism" I'm open to the fact that it is real. HONEST Question: Tell Me How.
Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 03:19 PM by matcom
I'm a guy.

Now that THAT is off the table, I've heard that the Obama campaign has been sexist twords Hillary. I have seen some of it in the media (mostly Right Wing) but not elsewhere.

BTW, I'm an Obama supporter (so THAT is off the table).

SERIOUS question here. HOW has the Obama (or Obama HIMSELF) been sexist?

I need examples here because I really don't know. This is NOT a dig at anyone. I'm 100% confused how those that make the claim come to that conslusion.

Maybe I'm ignorant. If so, let me have it here.

Thanks.

:hi:

19. Thing is, you've NEVER explained it.
I've posted threads asking, too. You just put that shit out there, and never offer evidence. Yes, there's been the occasional off-the-cuff sexist comment by the press, but there haven't been that many, and no less obsession over her appearance than there was over, say, Romney's hair when he was still in it. The broadcast media will always, always focus on the superficial. It hasn't hurt her campaign.

As for the claims that Obama has run a sexist campaign, that is 100% unmitigated bullshit, and y'all need to knock it off.

Some assholes in the press and on the cable shows have, though. Tweety was rightfully called out on his bs. But, not Obama or his campaign.

We've been asking the Clinton supporters for months to supply examples. They have nothing but their resentment.

17. He said "periodically" once!
The rule is: if a man says it, and it could possibly be interpreted as sexist, even .00001%, then it is! Women have the right to accuse men of things that they cannot prove. That is the rule.

And it's not a problem if a Hillary supporter is on TV saying that she will not vote for Obama because he's of "the other race" at all.

NOTE: This post is sarcastic.

Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 06:59 PM by WA98070
Since there is little difference in their policies; All voters in the Democratic primary were either sexist or racist; since that's what our party stands for

If you voted for anyone but Obama you're racist; if you voted for anyone but Hillary you're sexist.

Since I preferred Kucinich then Edwards I must be a sexist-racist.

35. It's inherently subjective.
Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 07:10 PM by lumberjack_jeff
Speaking for myself, I think that Hillary is a victim of misogyny in this campaign about as much as Obama is a victim of racism; i.e. not very much.

Nevertheless, there are those who see it differently. They arrived at their decision to support Hillary not primarily because her policy is preferable to Obamas, but because they have affinity for her, or admiration for her, or identify with her personally. Thus, they project the barriers and experiences that they faced onto Hillary.

This campaign has been personalized by the fans of both Obama and Clinton (and I use the word "fans" intentionally) to a self-destructive degree.

Whether or not the sexism is quantifiable, identifiable and tangible is the wrong question. The question is if her voters are alienated from Obama by it. If the voters perceive it, it's a problem, whether it exists or not.

Between voters alienated over gender issues and those alienated over "working class" issues, I think we should not underestimate the struggle we will face in the months leading up to the next election.

that's the alter universe message I'm getting from the frothy ones.

I'm fairly attuned to sexist language and innuendo but have to say that by far, most criticisms I've seen against Hillary has nothing to do with what kind of underwear she has on, (i don't visit too many other forums so there may be some specifically woman hating ones out there no doubt) but on poor judgement and poor sportsmanship and just plain piss poor campaigning.

she is out of touch with herself, her message and the majority. she's like a lava lamp at a state of the art techno dance thingymabob place. she does not learn well, like that blasphemy on the throne right now. too many similar notes.
