"Clinton admits his wife's campaign needs a turnout of more than 700,000 votes to claim victory."
Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 06:54 PM by Occam Bandage

Publicly, both campaigns are downplaying turnout expectations.

Privately, though, Bill Clinton admits his wife’s campaign needs a turnout of more than 700,000 voters to claim a substantial victory here. The campaign would rather win a lower percentage point victory with very high turnout — because it boosts her popular vote argument with superdelegates — than a landslide percentage with low turnout.

“The closer we get beyond 700, towards 1 million, the better we’ll do,” he said during a May 23 conference call with donors to his wife’s campaign.

By way of comparison, more than 870,000 voters turned out to vote in the 1980 primary between President Jimmy Carter and Massachusetts Sen. Edward M. Kennedy — one of only two Democratic presidential primaries held in Puerto Rico.

Looks like turnout was barely half of that. Congrats on her victory, though!

9. And the RBC gave absolutely no indication that MI could be counted as legit. In fact, since
their apportionment was only loosely based on the actual primary voting (and counted uncommitteds for Obama), yesterday's decision hurts her argument badly.

7. Hillary math - you have your math but she has Hillary math
She only counts the states she won in, she doesn't count any caucus states and she counts states where she was on the ballot but Obama was not. Pretty simple if you give it some thought.

8. Two reasons.
1. They're only ahead now if you don't count caucuses, give Hillary every vote out of MI, and give Obama 0 votes out of MI. That's not a very compelling argument to most people.

2. Even by her count, she's more than likely to lose that between SD and MT.

12. Based on the latest results now...
what is the "popular vote" if MI and the four caucus states are not counted?
