Who's willing to go on the record as voting for McCain?
Anyone? Are even the most fanatical Hillary supporters willing to state that for the record?

49. I agree...McBush is a despicable fraud
He acts like we've won in Iraq...Yes, violence is down, but WE ARE NO WHERE NEAR A POLITICAL SOLUTION....And also, McBush outright lied the other day when he tried to tell people at a rally, that we are at pre-surge levels of troops in Iraq, which is total BS...The levels have not been reduced to pre-surge numbers...

And I hate the fact that McBush gets away with being a moderate/maverick when he has called for Roe V. Wade to be overturned...Calling for a decision that's been the law of the land for over 35 years to be overturned, is HARDLY a position of a moderate, more like an extremist....

John W McBush is a bastard, & I am bewilldered when I hear Democrats say they'll vote for that phony...

14. the funny thing about politics is that there is the paid for consultant-crafted public persona
and the real person.

often, they don't match. and more often, it takes TIME to sort out the two. The longer the time, the more evidence we see of the real person.

62. August 2004, apparently -- judging from the first time it was posted on
FreeRepublic. Apologies for the reference, but that was the first Google listing I found that pegged the date.

Actually, there were some funny comments on FR, believe it or not -- of course, most of those morans were ridiculing this because they think McCain is "too liberal." Here are a few responses to the 8/10/04 thread there titled "Caption the Bush/McCain Love!":
  • "I hope he made sure his wallet was still there. I don't trust McCain as far as I could kick him."

  • "President Bush, watch out for the Mike Tyson Ear Bite from McCain! You know he never did get over you defeating him in the 2000 primaries!"

  • "Heal this man!!!"

  • "I wub you, Georgie-poo..."

  • "Daddy, I'm sorry, I've been a very bad boy."

  • "The Dems will have a field day with this. Especially over at DU."

38. but witholding a vote you might have cast for a democrat out of hurt feelings or pique
brings about the same results.

 We need everyone's votes in november. If you don't wish to give that to your chosen party because your chosen candidate did not win, or some supporters on a message board offended you, then you're making this very historic and important election all about your candidate and yourself, instead of the party and the country.
I don't believe you're that petty, so I hope indeed you reconsider. There are larger things at stake here than simply personal feelings.
look at the parents of a fallen soldier, and think about that.

Still have the screenshot, in fact. Message was edited three separate times before it finally got deleted entirely. Or maybe locked. Can't remember.

Odd thing, though is that this was some time ago, when Hillary was ahead on total delegates and behind on pledged delegates, prompting an Obama supporter say s/he would vote for McCain and do all s/he could do to "destroy" the Democratic party if Obama lost because of the superdelegates.

Was interesting.
