A disgusting example of racism expressed at the Rules and By laws meeting yesterday
Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 08:13 PM by still_one
"...Senator Clinton is the "best nominee possible" for President, said Ms. Christian, "and the Democrats are throwing the election away. For what? An inadequate black male who would not have been running had it not been a white woman that was running for President! And I'm not going to shut my mouth anymore!"

http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Irate_Clinton_supporter_God_Damn_Democrats_0601.htm

This is what the Clinton campaign has encouraged, starting with bill clinton's not so subtle dismissive comment on North Carolina

to Geraldine Ferraro's outbursts

Bill Clinton who said we were the party that brings people together

Let me state very clearly the reason I am NOT for Hillary Clinton, HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GENDER, it has everything to do with what she has demonstrated during this campaign

21. It Means
that a black man wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell if his opponent hadn't been a white woman in our sexist nation and but for the affirmative action that got him to where he is as the frontrunner. It was also sexism that got rid of all the other male (and white) candidates, so the sexists in this country would have a huge, glorious opportunity to humiliate a white woman, yet again, by picking that most unelectable of candidates, a black man, over her.

I'm thinking I don't need to use the sarcasm emoticon here for what is self evident

Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 08:52 PM by still_one
I have no doubt that she has a pre-conceived notion of African Americans

and that individual was bringing up how whites are discriminated against.

There is no doubt in my mind how she feels toward African Americans

In fact, it reminded me of Cythnia McKinney's father's outburst about "Jews". Just as hateful are predjudical in my view

36. We ALL have those notions silly.
I do. She does. You do. You definitely do. It is part of what we have to come to terms with. And try and change. That change will not happen with attitudes like yours.

Think on that.
It is not all so simple as you would wish it to be.

44. Maybe She Does, Maybe She Doesn't Have Preconceived Ideas
All in all, if someone wants to take a statement referring to Obama asan "inadequate black male" and call it racist, I really hope that person has never posted, "I'd love to vote for a woman, just not THAT woman," in this forum.

47. What I have posted is that the reason I am not voting for Hillary has nothing to do with gender
The reason I am not voting for Hillary has to do with her IWR vote
The reason I am not voting for Hillary has to do with her Kyle/Lieberman ammendment vote
The reason I am not voting for Hillary has to do with her vote for using Cluster Bombs in civillian areas

It is on issues

If that person though Obama was inadequate, that would have been sufficient, but she choose to go further

gender or race have NOTHING to do with why I vote for someone. It is on the issues

39. Yes. It is. Racist. Support it all you want, but admit it while you're at it.
Defend her ... you defend her message.

Nuthin' complicated about HER truth, she laid it out there for the world to see. You defend her truth, you also own it.

She said not a word about the white (inadequate) males in the race w/Clinton. Her spittle was reserved for the black male.

"Who would not have been running had it not been a WHITE woman that was running for president ..."

41. McClurkin was given a mike by Bill Clinton's campaign, too.
Heck, he had billing at the freaking convention.

Oh, and it's true that individual cases are possible outliers. I wonder if it's possible to find a bigger history of Obama supporters being homophobic, or Clinton supporters being racists?

42. that is a gold carat lie
over and over and over and over and over again it has been pointed out that when McClurkin was given the mike by Clinton he hadn't said crap about gays and hadn't endorsed Bush. He had done both of those things when your candidate gave him the mike. Stop lying.

43. No, the lie is that McClurkin, the person, was the problem.
As you rightly point out, the problem wasn't McClurkin himself, it was the later statements and positions taken by McClurkin (i.e. Bi men shouldn't be clandestinely cheating on their wives with other men... something I could agree with, if he didn't couch it in religious terms).

Yesterday's wingnut (the person) wasn't the problem, it's the represented systemic bias is the problem.

In this context:
Put another way, if Obama supporters and surrogates were frequently making homophobic comments, yes, that would be a problem.
Put another way, if Clinton supporters and surrogates were frequently making racist comments, yes, that would be a problem.
