Some ENCOURAGING news from the Maine Dem Convention this weekend.
I attended the HUGE Maine Dem Convention this weekend. VERY high turnout and excitement (although some clerical and computer issues that caused delays - but overall a good time). Dick Durbin, US Senate majority whip, was the keynote. There was HUGE enthusiasm among the supporters of BOTH presidential candidates. However, ALL speakers, no matter what side they were on, were VERY respectful of the OTHER prez candidate (and indeed the same goes for all the offices down the ticket). AND, there were no bad words among the rank and file of the two sides from what I saw.
I had VERY pleasant chats with many Hillary supporters and told them I'd support her if she won, and they reciprocated. So, hopefully, it bodes well here in Maine for unity. MAINE DEMS ARE ORGANIZED AND ENERGIZED BIGTIME ! We had 9 TIMES more people at our caucuses than did the R's, and about double the convention attendance. We have offices in EVERY county and are already phone banking and canvassing. WAY ahead of the R's already. HUGE ENERGY. We're gonna rock the R's world here come fall !!

6. I was there, but the unity thing... mm I hope so.
I just posted some disturbing things about what I saw and heard in response to another post I read. Now I feel like I should have towed the line and made pretend I didn't feel what I felt and saw what I saw. I guess I am naive, I have been so used to being scared of Republicans, I thought all Dems would be REALLY unified. Maybe it is always this way. It was my first state convention and some Hillary supporters made me very nervous! You hit all the highlights though and you are spot on about the good news!!!

8. I can only echo my own experience. I did hear one little bit of grumbling from a Hillary supporter
during Durbin's speech, but overall, my experience was VERY positive and I did indeed have many nice chats with Hillary supporters. I honestly didn't see any major spats, and, given how charged it has been, it was encouraging.

10. Well, just what did you see? I thought it was, overall, pretty congenial.
