What took you so long?

Ha, the League of First Time Voters is talking on CNN about using the Internet for Politics and they are asking the question, "What took you so long?" (Rerun, I know)

I ask the same question of the MSM....what took you so long to realize that people are NOT getting ALL of their information from TV but are utilizing the Internet and sites like this for facts, chats, discussions, spats, and everything else in between, including grassroots donations and activities.

That may also explain why the Hillary crowd (and to some extent the McCain gang) are losing because their bases are too old to know about or care about the technology.

And, I think it will be funny and sad at the same time if Cable News networks don't recognize this more than they do.

1. I think so as well..

Many people work different schedules... the standard 1/2 hour of world news is just not pertinent to many people's lives.

Chatting, blogging, discussing.. on line are ways for people to connect and reason and to learn differnt ideas and things...

They are def. trying to play catch up now.

2. Ahh but those on TV are *stars* while those on the net . . .

are pajama-wearing digital scriveners, not a tenth as cool and with it as the *real TV stars*! And the televandroids will embrace those stars shining in their eyes, blinding them as they drive off the cliff.

TV News is just TV Noise these days, and no single outlet -- or even a collection of outlets -- has particular sway over a chunk of the electorate (except maybe Fux News, but this post is supposed to be uplifing, not a downer).


TV News appears bigger than it is, because it's so self-referential. "Everybody's talking about " because a small coterie of overpaid sheeps are talking about and are busily dislocating their shoulders patting themselves on the back.

Meanwhile, out in the real world, TV News is just gabble in the background while the family makes dinner. Real news comes from the paper (if they read one) or the Internet, or a mash-up of network, cable, water cooler, Jon Stewart/Steven Colbert/Oprah/Leno/whatever . . .

TV news is going the way of the buggy whip.

4. For the record, I haven't watched "the news" since 2001

when we turned off our cable. And we haven't had a newspaper subscription since 1999. They just seemed to accumulate, and out city didn't have a recycling program yet...

So the internet has been my primary source of news for many years, and I am perfectly satisfied with it to the point that it is hard to imagine the misfortune of those still stuck with cable. Every now and then I see a clip, and it is just a bit sad, like watching the cheerleaders for the losing team still prance and shout...

5. yeah, I'd be the same except I do enjoy Keith Olbermann so I can't

shut my cable off just yet....

I wonder what will happen next February with the great digital divide when they switch from analog to all digital, though.
