Perhaps we should ask the Rock band CAKE why Hillary is still competing...
Edited on Mon Jun-02-08 09:05 AM by sfam
Transposed for a female lead:

...
She's going the distance
She's going for speed
He's all alone
In his time of need.
Because shes racing and pacing and plotting the course,
Shes fighting and biting and riding on her horse,
Shes going the distance.

No trophy, no flowers, no flashbulbs, no wine,
She's haunted by something she cannot define.
Bowel-shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse,
Assail her, impale her with monster-truck force.
In her mind, shes still driving, still making the grade.
Hes hoping in time that his memories will fade.

Cause she's racing and pacing and plotting the course,
Shes fighting and biting and riding on his horse.
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up,
And long ago somebody left with the cup.
But shes striving and driving and hugging the turns.
And thinking of someone for whom she still burns....

2. So did Edwards, Richardson, Biden and all the rest...but...
they dropped out when it was clear they could not win. In no way am I questioning whether she has the right. I'm questioning as many are why she continues even though the outcome has been crystal clear for quite some time.

And I really think the song above touches on some of those same sentiments...

3. Ha! I was playing that song yesterday for my girlfriend and...
...was telling her it reminded me of Hillary's obsession. Only some of the lyrics "fit", but that's awesome that someone else is thinking the same thing.

4. She's going the distance, long after someone has left with the cup...
There's clearly a personal obsession there, that can only be understood from inside Hillary's head. This, I think is the linkage.
