The sign in the senator's window

A Montana super-delegate for Barack Obama?
Posted by Toby Harnden on 02 Jun 2008 at 05:12

Some super-delegates call a press conference to trumpet that they have endorsed Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton. A few, like John Kerry or John Edwards fly half way across the country amid great secrecy to appear on stage with the grinning candidate at a huge rally. Most at least issue a press release. But one, it seems, might be doing things the old-fashioned way – by putting up a campaign sign in his sitting room window.

Officially, neither of Montana’s senators nor the state’s governor has endorsed a candidate before tomorrow’s Democratic primary. But Obama should be feeling confident about Senator Max Baucus, chairman of the Senate finance committee, Harley Davidson enthusiast, ultra-marathon runner and the 10th longest-serving senator in US history. Walking up to the dog park yesterday I spotted an Obama ’08 sign in a window of the senator’s elegant Georgetown house, where he lives with his wife Wanda and their bichon frise Isaac. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there on Saturday.

Obama needs perhaps three dozen super-delegates to put him over the top for the nomination. It might just be worth giving Senator Baucus a call today.

1. lol
Good news, but kind of stalkerish to be taking pictures of his window.

2. The point of his putting the sign in the window is for others to see.
I'm guessing media reps took the photo.

7. Yep. The only reason I said something was to defuse the likely ...
"Obama supporters are stalking a US senator!!"

It sure makes that "undeclared" status more accurate than the "undecided" label sometimes used.

8. The pic and blog were by a reporter so I don't think the Obama supporters should have to deal with
it but then that assumes people are acting rationally. That hasn't been a safe assumption in the Nomination race for quite a while.
