bottom line if you cannot say you will vote for the Democratic nominee in November |
|
Then you're not a democrat. The issues are too big to allow a continuation of Bush policies by a man who may be even a bigger hawk and basketcase than George W. Bush. The bottom line is that our nominee will be Barack Obama. If you can't put this primary behind you and get behind him then go join some McCain loving website and stay the hell off of DU. If it were the other way around and it was Hillary who was going to be the nominee I'd put behind all the vile I have felt towards her and her campaign and vote for her in November. After tomorrow we must come together and unite as a party behind the presumptive nominee. McCain is getting away with murder. We need to get Democrats united to win in November and end this nightmare.

20. ITA. Democratic Party voters include a large diversity... |
|
and who the fuck is the OP to determine what is a Democrat and what is not?
In addition, if a voter simply sheeples up to the poll and votes for whatever has a (D) in front of it, they are giving away the power they have as a voter.
In fact, why have elections at all? If you are going to give away your power to the DNC and the media, why not just let them name the candidate for you?
I understand this opinion will not be allowed after DU declares the primary is over, but until then I will continue to voice my opinion that it is the duty and honor of each voter to vote for the candidate they believe will do the best job.
TO say that someone who has a different opinion than you regarding who would make the best president is not a "Democrat" is obnoxious and inaccurate.

21. I have a problem with ANYBODY and certainly the DNC dictating how ANYBODY should vote... |
|
Why bother voting at all if your attitude is that Democrats must all walk in lock-step, mind-numb conformity and vote for anything with a (D) in front of its name?
Just let the DNC vote for you.
Understand, I will vote for Obama. But I defend the right of every American to mae the decision for themselves, in the privacy of the voting booth.

22. Wrong. It means that you prefer a person other than the one .... |
|
who the majority of Democrats chose.
As Americans, we all have the right to vote for the person of our choice. If you don't agree with that, then work to take that right away from us.

What you say is questionable if you mean Democrat, but it's absolutely wrong when you write democrat with a small-d.

in which you ignore entirely what I said -- "democrat" is NOT "Democrat" -- and repeat fallacious with-me-or-against-me loyalty-oath modern-McCarthy bullshit, is enough.

19. you really should read the rules |
|
"Democratic Underground is not affiliated with the Democratic Party, and comments posted here are not representative of the Democratic Party or its candidates."
You should be supporting a Dem - but the rules say very specifically that in general you should support the nominee. But for sure - a progressive and a Dem.
There is a difference.

14. Yep. If you won't vote for the dem, then it's obvious you are |
|
NOT a dem. Pretty simple.
If you don't vote for the dem, you want McCain elected.
If you don't vote for the dem, you want Iraq to continue and more of our brave soldiers killed.
If you don't vote for the dem, you want us to attack Iran.
If you don't vote for the dem, you don't want health care for all Americans.

17. My ex GF and I talk politics often... last week after I expressed an opinion, she said... |
|
"Of course that's what you believe. You're a Democrat. You're not an organization guy... but you ARE a pure Democrat."
She has a lot of contempt for Democratic politicians... but that time... she meant it in the best way. In her mind, I'm what a Democrat SHOULD be.
I never thought of myself that way before... and I was flattered. She said "Flattery is lies told to pump up someone's ego. These are just the facts."
I reckon she's right and frankly, I feel pretty good about it right now. It's been a long time.
