Campaign finance question for us dummies. |
|
And I apologize in advance for improperly including any of you in my group.
Assuming that Hillary quits the race, as all indications seem to suggest, my understanding is that she has no less than 6 millions in cash that is dedicated to the general election. She also has 11.5 millions in debt for the primary battles. If she drops out, shuts down her campaign, and no longer runs, can those 6 millions be applied to pay down her debt?

She has to return the general election money, I believe.
I could be wrong, though about that. There might be some way she can use the money in the general election, but not apply it to her debts.
I'm almost certain she cannot convert those funds to pay for primary debts, however.
She's going to end up eating the $11 mil of her money, probably.
