With a glio it's impossible to remove all of it. It's like a spider web. :(

He was awake during the procedure in order to protect against neurological damage. They still have to do chemo and radiation to kill off the rest of the tumor cells though. It's kind of like pre-washing your dishes before sticking them in the dishwasher. You're just trying to get most of the dirt off of those dishes before putting them into the cleaning cycle.
