Do we know as a fact that Obama can't win in the GE?
The GE is in November, yet many people post on here with absolute certainty that Obama cannot win the GE. I don't get it. SOmeone responded to my previous post and suggested that censoring this "fact" is not good for the deocratic party. Isn't the idea that the deocratic candidate has a good chance in the GE because democrats support their candidate, even if this candidate is not their first choice. Wouldn't this be the better course (supporting the candidate), rather than saying over and over again that he can't win.

11. ???
It is one thingto be attacked by republicans, but really strange to see democrats attacking their own candidate. Does saying it is a downhill slide mean that once Obama has the nomination, things will be easier for him? If so, I think this is true - great to be able to finally focus on the real opponent!

Though the GE isnt until November, if he wins now, he can win in November.

25. I think McCain was a sacrificial lamb for this election cycle
he's so "not on the ball" that as soon as this Dem primary is wrapped up, Obama will annihilate him. So many McCain "misspeaks", so little time.

8. Kinda makes you question the motives
of people saying over and over that Obama can't win.

It's *almost* like they're trying to depress turnout. ;)

10. Don't listen to the rightwingnuts among us.
Obama will be our next President. People are tired of the corruption, greed, crime, lies and the wars of the republicans. That is why Hillary lost.

Don't worry about the "can't win" posters.
They're just the visible face of the racist wing of the Democratic Party. They dress their racism up as "other people won't vote for a black candidate," but it's really their own prejudice they're projecting. They can't come right out and say "blacks scare me" so they pretend to be "concerned" about Obama's "electability." It's pitiful, really.

why don't people start saying McCain can't win (he's a pretty weak candidate), instead of saying it about our own candidates?

I've never understood that, actually.

22. here is Rasmussen's very conservative take on the matter
"Still, Democrats lead in states with 200 Electoral Votes while the GOP has the advantage in states with 189. When “leaners” are included, the Democrats enjoy a 260-240 Electoral College lead (see summary of recent state-by-state results). Data from Rasmussen Markets gives Democrats a 61.0% chance of winning the White House in November (results are updated on a 24/7 basis by market participants). "

Even Fox News acknowledges that Sen. Obama is already stronger than McCain in the Electoral College

----------------

-----------------

Even the financial markets recognize that Sen. Obama will likely win in November:

Intrade Prediction Markets: http://www.intrade.com / (The Rasmussen Market figures are pretty much in the same ball park: http://markets.rasmussenreports.com/ )

Intrade Prediction Market gives a 61.5% to 63.4% chance that the Democrats will win the White House in November

Intrade Prediction Market gives a 57.5% to 57.6%chance that Barak Obama will be elected President in November

Intrade Prediction Market gives a 5.8% to 5.9% chance that Hillary Clinton will be elected President in November

Intrade Prediction Market gives a 37.6% to 37.7% chance that John McCain will be elected President in November

Intrade Prediction Market gives a 37.0% to 38.7% chance the Republicans will win the White House in November

Intrade Prediction Markets gives Hillary Clinton 83% to 83.9% chance of dropping out of 2008 Presidential race on/before 30 Jun 2008 (This is up 14.8%)
