We have an honest to goodness DU exclusive, and it's only got 28 recs?
A DUer posted that he found out Hillary is dropping out after tomorrow. It seems pretty credible. He's got most of the information correct, except there is a dispute about the test date. Other than that, it appears to be credible.

This post should get a rec from every person at DU: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=6230702&mesg_id=6230702

It might be BS, but most of the internets is BS. It might also be true. This reminds me of the person that posted that Edwards name was going on Kerry's plane in 2004. It was posted on a very small flyers forum. It turns out that was true.

Ultimately, this post is good for DU. It will drive lots of new members this way and that's a good thing. So rec it up and get the word out there.

1. I dunno, Bleachers.

I was excited to read it at first and thought it was scoop-alicious, but it does seem as though Harvard and the Kennedy School finished exams a week or so ago.

I rec'd it at first, but after reading about the class schedules and what-not, I'm not sure we'd want to send people to DU based upon something that could very well be wholly untrue.

If the OP were doing a better job at defending the claims, I'd feel more comfortable, but all we're getting is a "we'll all know tomorrow" kind of statement. I think it could be true, but it simply can't be verified.

Remember Jason Leopold? Just sayin'.

2. No, we've got an honest-to-goodness RUMOR. That's it.
There isn't anything in its pedigree which leads me to believe I should give this rumor any more credence than any other.

3. The idea that Hillary
told someone that in confidence, and they announced it to a college class is inherently goofy.

4. Man, why isn't anyone rushing to believe this particular third-hand rumor?
I mean, there's only a third-hand rumor for literally every single possibility. Why aren't they lovin' this one?

7. Andrew Sullivan linked to that one. His blog has a HUGE amount of traffic.
And I can tell you I got to DU via a hyperlink from a blog; now look we're I'm wasting too much of my time? The OP is right. Rec it up.

11. So does the Drudge report, though. Why Truthout got picked up by the national....
...media for the Rove will resign in 24 hours thing. That didn't make it any more correct.

  Sensational rumors get attention.

That doesn't make their assertions any more or less accurate.

6. Sorry, not going to rec a rumor

Even if it is a rumor that I would love to believe. Personally, I don't think that the OP would blow their 5 year DU cred on a prank. However, the schedule stuff that others posted didn't quite jive, which made it a little speculative.

My personal feelings is that the OP conflated what the professor was told by the Clinton campaign, and what the professor passed along to the class as an opinion.

Larry Johnson. It could be legit, but I'm not getting excited about anything after the ways these campaigns have been going.

12. So... A person heard that a person heard that Clinton was dropping out....
Exactly how much of a reaction *should* that get?

I'm certainly not saying that the poster is a liar, or even that the poster is wrong. But there's only so far you can go with a rumor of the form "a person heard that a person heard..."

I'm not calling the OP a liar, but it just doesn't have enough facts to back it up for me.

16. Well I'll put it on the list along with these:
Obama won't win the nomination.

Obama can't win the G.E.

Gore will be our next president.

Hillary will be the next President.

Obama had a drug induced affair with a gay lover.

McCain supports the troops.

Saddam had WMD's.

Blah blah blah... all those rumors, and hundreds more were reported to me as FACTS by "people in the know".

18. Its a prank - school is over and confidential high level advisers don't blab
in the middle of class state secrets. Somebody is laughing their brains out about this right now however.
