I Love Hillary Clinton And...
I think she will make an excellent Vice President if asked. Who knows who Barack Obama will pick. It is not a decision that he will take lightly. He will pick the most qualified, outstanding public servant.

What I do know, is that she is committed to a Democratic White House in November.

She is committed to her colleagues in the Congress.

She will work very hard to ensure the re-election of the "Freshman Class" of 2006.

11. Hate to be a contrarian, but I don't like her for the vice-presidency.
Edited on Mon Jun-02-08 07:59 PM by VolcanoJen
I'd prefer her as Secretary of Health and Human Services, and give her full control, her-way-or-no-way, of Health Care Reform.

Other than that, I like her in the Senate.

But VP is just not her bag, and I don't think Obama and she would work together well at this point. They really are quite different, and their messages are in contradiction.

I'd rather see her continue to fight for people within an Obama Administration, or continuing her work as Senator. But I'd really like to see someone else as VP.

Edit: Dan Quayle can spell better than I can.

That is not a very nice thing to say.
Especially considering her commitment to children.

And her tremendous generosity with the proceeds from "It Takes a Village..."

14. Lieberman would stand a better chance for a winning ticket
The right wing nuts have been on Hillary's case for years, How Bill got so close to poppy Bush tells me that poppy is running the show somehow guaranteeing a Clinton win for 08, but he can't resurrect what he killed and Bill has been a fool to believe it, no, it's over for Hillary, but than again both Hillary and McCain "won" NH even though both support the war.

Nothing surprises me any more.

17. You know what? I completely agree.
The selection of the running mate needs to be outside of mob-like pressure.

Pros and Cons need to be weighed and I think Obama be very deliberative.

(And yes, I know this is a concession, but...)

20. Rec - Its not a concession, its just a recognition...lets let Obama decide...
I think most rational people can agree that Hillary SHOULD be on the short list of 3-5 names, and I mean a REAL short list, not one to placate people. Most Obama supporters also trust his judgment (hopefully Hillary folks will as well). I will be quite happy whomever he picks.

If its Hillary, I even hope we get Bill to go to all those small towns to get all those hard working white folk to get stoked for Obama.

21. If Obama Passes Over Her For VP
I want to hear him commit to a cabinet post, preferably HHS. Think what you like of her character (and that's mostly what's been assassinated around here lately), but she has far too much "deep background" in health care reform for him to waste it. I think it would be great for both of them.

22. I would be very happy if Hillary was the HHS secretary...but perhaps the Senate has more stature...
if she stays in the Senate, she should still be able to take the lead on reforming health care. She could probably do this even easier in the Senate than HHS, where she'll be stuck managing stuff.

23. I love the idea of HRC as VP
I have taken a beating from my fellow Obama supporters for suggesting the Obama/Clinton but I think it is a great idea. She has done a lot of great things and my anger has been directed more at her staff and surrogates. I think both sides need to be grown ups and do what is best for the part and I honestly think this ticket will blow McCain out of the water.

Health care is one of her signature issues, and it would give her a chance to really change things in that area.

29. I agree for the most part, and while I'm a little short on objectivity these days, it seems that
Clinton will be more influential as a Senator than as VP. (Gone will be the days of a Cheney-style Vice Presidency.) She has earned, through a hard-fought campaign, a very strong, influential voice in American politics. Her standing in the Senate will benefit a lot from the way she carries the party to victories in the Fall. All of us common people are much more politically tuned in than we were a year ago, and hopefully that will give the Democratic Senators and Congresspeople some courage heading into the wind. I hope Clinton saved some of her passion and energy to continue to speak out on the issues as Senator, this Summer and beyond. We'll be behind her. I hope.

As Vice President... I don't know... there's a lot of time for that decision!

30. I wish her and you the best of luck.
I must admit that as my frustration with Hillary grew, so did a grudging respect. She got outsmarted and out classed by Obama, but her tenacity, passion and wiles were incredible. It is easy to see why she garners so much respect.

Like many, however, I am highly suspect of her ability to let go and let Obama be the leader. I would be cringing if I had to share the room in a cabinet meeting with the two of them.
