In every respect.

2. HRC Tells Barack: Show Me The Money $$$

HRC Tells Barack: Show Me The Money $$$

by lenzkrafterz at DKOS Mon Jun 02, 2008

So this is the classy way HRC will bow out, essentially demanding that Obama buy her concession.

Check out this article currently being linked
by Drudge. Ultimately, she just wants the Clinton family millions back in her pockets.

These are the money quotes:

Negotiations are understood to be taking place between the Obama and Clinton campaigns about the Illinois senator helping to repay some of the massive debt incurred by his rival. One of Hillary Clinton’s donors said that the former First Lady’s campaign was as much as $40 million in the red.

In a conference call with major donors this afternoon, contributors were told by Harold Ickes, a senior Clinton adviser, that she was unlikely to pull out of the race until the issue of her massive debts was resolved. The New York senator has lent her own campaign at least $11.5 million.
One source close to a major donor said: "It’s not about the vice-presidency or any other position she might get. It’s about the money – in particular the Clinton family money." The Obama campaign might have to reach deeply into its well-stocked coffers in order to secure the full support of Mrs Clinton and her husband Bill in the November general election.

So there we have it. To hell with lobbying Obama for influence on health care policy, or doing something for her supporters. To hell with all the small vendors that she owes for sandwiches or event prep and whatnot. It's all about her money. Pay her back the millions she loaned her campaign through our small netroots contributions. That's the Clinton legacy in action. Now at least Bill can go back to shilling for his billionaire corporate buddies and collecting his kickbacks in peace.

3. Larry Johnson Goes Pfft

Larry Johnson Goes Pfft

Oliver Willis June 2, 2008

Another bombshell video from Larry Johnson

As even some conservatives are acknowledging, Larry Johnson has simply made up this “whitey” video he’s been endlessly talking up (and who the deranged and desperate Taylor Marsh has promoted). He even apparently doctored his blog entry from a few days ago to cover his butt when it turned out he would pull a Geraldo this morning.

Well, you know what happens to liars. They keep digging. The latest from Larry Johnson:

But at the same time the Obama campaign has disseminated either a doctored or concocted transcript of the supposedly nonexistent videotape. Major Obama donors went to the campaign demanding explanations after the posting of my story on No Quarter about the contents of the videotape confirmed to me by several reliable sources, all Republicans with access to knowledge but who do not know each other.

So the campaign created a would-be transcript of the video it says doesn’t exist. In the Obama campaign produced transcript Michelle says “why’d he” instead of “whitey.” Very clever. Then the campaign sent this transcript to key Obamaton bloggers to circulate. And the campaign sent it to the donors to prevent them from having a nervous breakdown.

None of this happened. It simply never occured. I’m in a position to know this first hand, and it didn’t occur. Right now the Obama folks biggest concern is getting the superdelegates to finally come out of their shells - and succeeding. They aren’t concerned at all about Johnson’s made up video.

AP Newsbreak: SC Congressman Jim Clyburn endorsing Obama, asking Dem delegates to unify

Staff AP News Jun 02, 2008 16:10 EST Via TalkingPointsMemo

House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn is endorsing Barack Obama for president.

The South Carolina congressman told The Associated Press on Monday that he has started to phone the state's superdelegates to ask them to get behind one candidate. When asked whether that candidate was Obama, Clyburn said yes.

Clyburn says he'll make a formal endorsement announcement Tuesday.

The backing of the highest-ranking black member of Congress comes more than four months after Obama won the Democratic primary in South Carolina.

25. NYT outlines movement of SDs to Obama
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/03/us/politics/03campaign.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&hp

Sensing an opportunity to shut down the nominating contest, Obama campaign advisers said that they were orchestrating an endorsement of Mr. Obama by at least eight Senate and House members who had pledged to remain uncommitted until the primaries ended, and that the endorsements would come the moment the South Dakota polls closed on Tuesday night.

The group will be led by Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa, who on Monday met with three other uncommitted Democratic senators — Ken Salazar of Colorado, Thomas R. Carper of Delaware and Benjamin L. Cardin of Maryland — at the offices of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in what Mr. Salazar called a unity session.

Representative James E. Clyburn of South Carolina, the No. 3 Democrat in the House and the highest-ranking African-American in Congress, set his formal endorsement of Mr. Obama for Tuesday, and he was urging others to do the same. Other lawmakers and party insiders were also sending word that they would be falling in line behind Mr. Obama beginning as early as Tuesday morning.

“It’s time,” saidSenator Herb Kohl of Wisconsin, one of the senators who have not made a public choice in the race, signaling that he too would announce his endorsement within days.

5. Reasoning with the Unreasonable:

Reasoning with the Unreasonable:

The Rude Pundit 6/02/2008

At this point in the neverending self-flagellation that is the Democratic Party's Trail of Tears to the nomination, it's worthless to attempt to reason with Hillary Clinton's supporters. No matter how much you try to point out that Clinton agreed to the nominating process at the beginning, they won't care. None of it matters: not the facts that she was the frontrunner and presumptive nominee up until the Iowa caucuses, that Harold Ickes (a man desperately in need of a punch in the nuts) voted to "punish" Florida and Michigan. You can't start an argument by saying that Clinton herself said that even elected delegates can change who they support; therefore, the fight for the "will of the people" or whatever in Florida and Michigan isn't really what's at stake. You can't speak to them metaphorically, like saying how if you start a game of stick ball, you can't in the middle of an inning say that second base ain't the car on the corner anymore, that it's the fire hydrant half a block down, just because it turns out the other team has faster runners. Or that we're no longer gonna score by runs, just by how many bases you touch. No, no, such figurative language won't do for Clinton's followers.

The Rude Pundit would like to think that if he was in the position of Clinton's voters, that his candidate was actually losing the nomination, he'd have the sense to toss in the towel, as many previous Clinton supporters are doing. He'd like to think that, well, shit, the rules sometimes suck, but so be it. And instead work to change the rules for the future. Yes, he'd like to think he'd be so gracious. Indeed, when it seemed that Clinton was the inevitable nominee back last year, the Rude Pundit was ready to go all in to defeat the real enemy, and that was never Hillary Clinton. And he certainly knows that he wouldn't keep fighting if Clinton got the number of delegates needed to win the nomination.

…But how, Christ, how do we treat members of the family who have become estranged?
It's all such projection now, this whole quixotic battle that Clinton supporters are engaged in. It's projection of years of waiting for a female candidate that had an honest shot. It's projection for the way Al Gore was screwed out of the presidency. It's projection for how seven years of George W. Bush have left Americans feeling as if what they believed about government and the nation was worthless.

We who support Obama cannot take this rage for granted. Surely, Obama has his work cut out for him in reaching out to Clinton supporters, when he secures the majority of the delegates. When that moment comes, though, it's incumbent upon us, the Obama supporters in Left Blogsylvania, to offer comfort to Clinton's most rabid acolytes and give them another place to call home…

Ain’t no gullible in the white man’s dictionary

Posted by Sifu Tweety Fish June 2 at The Poor Man Institute

Can somebody please tell me why people are giving even a moment’s credence to the absurd, ineptly attempted smear that Michelle Obama would take the occasion of addressing a large, ethnically and politically homogenous heterogeneous congregation at one of the most prominent churches in the city of Chicago – on occasion where she knew she was being videotaped – to transform herself from a powerful, convincing advocate for sound political and social policy to a broadly drawn blaxploitation caricature?

Do they really believe that every black woman harbors an inner Angela Y. Davis cum Cleopatra Jones-style race warrior whose second greatest thrill (besides being sent to all-topless women’s prison, natch) is avenging all the ghetto sisters them crackers done wrong? Really? Do they similarly believe the pope, given a moment’s peace, would in fact desperately seek out some woods to poop in? That little people living in their TVs act out the stories they see? That pro wrestling is totally, totally real?

Whitey? Is a moron.

12. Senator Obama, Just Shut Up about Hillary
You can't make a pet out of a rattlesnake, Sen Obama

Senator Obama, Just Shut Up about Hillary

Jack and Jill Politics Monday, June 02, 2008

With all due respect, I truly mean that. Just shut up about being nice to this cow.

Stop all the fussing about being willing to work with this heifer. I mean, no one, not even a person as skeptical as me, would protest that you haven't ran a classy campaign, that you haven't gone in the gutter as she has; that you have played the game fair and square, and by the rules.

Rules, I might add, she and her ilk created or signed off on.

Shut up about how you're willing to be friends when this is over. You can't befriend a rattlesnake. That's reminding me of your opponent, John McCain, and how he got treated by the Bush Cartel the last time he ran for President. Karl Rove slimed him but good. Even suggested dude had a case of "Jungle Fever" that resulted in his adopted daughter (she's from Bangladesh, BTW), and that his trophy wife was a drug addict (now that was true).

…Forgiveness does not mean you allow the person to offend you to have a license to continue their bad treatment. It does not mean you allow them to take you out again.

It does mean drawing a boundary that they can't cross anymore, and you let them know it.
…She lost this primary and is now hell-bound on destroying you. Lock her out until she can't hurt you, your family, or the Democratic Party anymore….

Prominent Right Wing Coward Smears Obama for Not Considering Military Service

by Tony Hendra at the Smirking Chimp June 2, 2008

Super-star NYT Op-Ed columnist Billy Kristol shot one off today that outslimed even his own epic levels of sliminess.

The doughty Vietnam non-vet took Senator Obama to task for giving a commencement address at Wesleyan this weekend in which he didn't remind his "elite" audience that military service was one kind of public service they might consider.

Just as back in 1970 young Billy, then a draftable little chickadee of 18 summers, fresh from elite Collegiate School in Manhattan, considered military service in the only war he could have qualified for. And said to his heroic inner man...hellllll nooooo. I'm serving my country at...Harvard.

18. To Hillary: You Broke It

To Hillary: You Broke It

By raider99 at TPM- June 2, 2008

The behavior we all witnessed at the recent RBC meeting from the Clinton supporters was way over the top, and Hillary, if you are listening, you must take some of the responsibility. Certainly these are adults – at least chronologically – but they have been encouraged by you and your campaign, and as they say in the retail trade, if you break it, you own it.

You chose to attack Obama and now we see the effect - that some of your faithful followers have come to hate him so much that they welcomed with open arms a severe nut case who distributed pamphlets making the most absurd and grossly disgusting accusations against one of our United States Senators. They never questioned this man. They lined up for pictures and autographed copies of his revolting literature. I won’t even dignify this atrocity with more description. And that was only a part of the sideshow they put on.

...Hillary, don’t you think it’s time to start telling the truth to these people? Don’t you think it’s time to stop manipulating rules and facts? Maybe you could have been a great president. Maybe you could even beat McCain. But you haven’t proved it. You have only proved, to my mind, that you:

-Don’t care about rules, because rules only apply to other people.

-Don’t care about your party, because only you are important.

-Don’t care about facts, because facts can be manipulated, just like people.

-And speaking of people, you clearly don’t care about those who follow you, because you have
fanned the flames of their discontent in order to gain… what? In the words of your own creature, Lanny Davis, “Beats me.”

Larry Johnson - NO CREDIBILITY (update x 3)

Posted by: McQ on Monday, June 02, 2008

If the alleged Michelle Obama tape exists, Larry Johnson doesn't have it despite promises to post it by 9am today.
From one of his co-bloggers
at "NO QUARTER":

FYI, for those expecting to SEE the tape, GET REAL.
Read Larry Johnson’s description of what is ON the tape.
That is the story.

Heh ... don't you love the "get real". For all
the skeptics, point made. For Larry Johnson,
the new name of your blog is in the headline

UPDATE: Finally got back into Johnson's original post and it says:

New and dramatic developments. This is a heads up.
I’ll post the news Monday morning by 0900 hours.
Now I know why people who have seen the videotape say it is stunning.
Barack’s headaches are only starting.

Sure wish I had a screen cap of it from when I first read that line.
I seem to remember the word "video" where "news" now resides.

27. What do CNN, FOX, John McCain and Geraldine Ferraro have in common?

They want to face a divided Democratic Party in November

John Bush McCain can tell you all about sexism

Tue Jun 3, 3:38 AM The Jed Report

More than anything, John Bush McCain wants to face a divided Democratic Party in November. That's why he has recently gone out of his way to praise Hillary Clinton, telling an audience yesterday that she "has inspired generations of American women to believe that they can reach the highest office in this nation."

Clearly, McCain is trying to take advantage of the allegations that Barack Obama has run a sexist campaign made by Geraldine Ferraro and others.

There's something ironic about John McCain's strategy, however, because ten years ago, when Bill Clinton was still president, McCain told one of the most offensive and sexist jokes I can ever remember a major politician telling. Speaking at a large Republican fundraiser, McCain said:

Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?
Because her father is Janet Reno

31. Ark. campaign chairman for Clinton predicts Obama nomination
<snip>

"The chairman of Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign in Arkansas says he believes it's clear that rival Barack Obama will win the Democratic presidential nomination.

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel says he hasn't been given any indication from Clinton's campaign that she will drop out, despite reports that she would concede the delegate race to Obama.

Clinton, who served as the state's first lady for 12 years, won overwhelmingly in Arkansas' Democratic presidential primary February Fifth and has gained support of the state's top Democrats, including McDaniel and Governor Beebe. The state's three Democratic congressmen and U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln have also endorsed Clinton's bid.

Clinton also gained the support of 11 of the 12 state's superdelegates.

Campaign officials have said Clinton will concede tonight that Obama has the delegates to secure the Democratic nomination, effectively ending her bid to be the nation's first female president. Obama is 40 delegates shy of clinching the nomination, but he is widely expected to make up the difference tonight with superdelegate support and votes in South Dakota and Montana."
