Obama's Super Delegate Balancing Act
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 05:43 AM by Boz
There has been alot of hand wringing today that at least half the SD needed did not come out today, just like all the other moves by the campaign that I have observed as politically savvy his one also makes sense in the bigger picture.

If the SDs had made it inevitable Monday and Tuesday it may have impacted the outcome of the vote, perhaps even some voters would not make the effort figuring its a done deal lowering the outcome and changing what is needed.

It is best the People put him over, so you have to get enough SD BEFORE the delegates for that to happen, so its a catch 22, how do you handle it?

You line it up into a block and you release it minutes before the polls close then let it unfold the right way, it is a tight rope walk that has to be done to work, and again a fine piece of the campaign weighing the big picture and subtle finessing rather than brute force immediate gratification.

In DU world things move pretty fast, we see an image on political tv and before we open a browser someone has already commented about what we have seen, but this takes a slow hand, to those who have said its because he doesnt have the support flip off and crawl unde a rock, to those that have christmas syndrome, its coming, the presents are under the tree, just wait till morning or in this case evening, just before polls close and the celebration begins.

PS I want to know where Obama buys his pants, because taking it to the republicans and McCain right in their house so to speak and holding his speech in the stadium and site of the republican convention takes a HUGE INSEAM.

FIRED UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. I think there will be some this morning and early afternoon
and then, as you say, a flood just as the polls close. He will have to make it enough to take him over even if he loses big time (as suggested by the ARG poll for SD, which I think is an outlier) just in case. The worst would be to come up a few votes short so I expect the final number before the votes are counted in MT & SD to be maybe about 10, just in case.
