It's hard to imagine, even in the unlikely event there were such a revelation out there, it would automatically make Clinton the nominee. Wouldn't a brokered convention be more likely? If the Obama people threw their support to a third party (Gore, Edwards, X?) wouldn't the outcome be the end of Clinton's quest for the nomination as well?

I think the Clinton campaign chances of being Veep would be better if she dropped out and endorsed. I think the Obama camapign is probably watching their actions right now more than anything to determine whether or not she would be a good Veep candidate. Her tenacious spirit for fighting the good fight stands well in her favor, but I think that Obama needs a good show of faith and support.

I'm still not certain it exists, but the Obama response seems strange.

From what I've read, it seems the GOP are the only ones who have the alleged tape and there's no way they're going to release it until after the DNC Convention if Obama gets the nom. They would use it to take him out after the chance has passed to replace him.

Media Matters jumped on it, mostly on the issue of unnamed sources, but it's only just getting out there and Purdum is standing by his story. The Clinton camp is of course peeved about it, but have yet to debunk the article based on the claims, instead they're just smearing Todd Purdum.

It's a very damaging article if we're talking about presidential spouses. Given Bill Clinton's history, it's difficult not to at least find Purdum's article plausible on its face. Far more damaging than the utter speculation of Bill and other women is the fact that it's well-known and non-debunkable that he runs around with Ron Burkle.
